Major offensive to take Fallujah coming up tomorrow...

They sent over an extra 6500 soldiers for it. That was in the news a few days ago. They also extended some tours for marines. It's going to happen.

They should not let the media report these kinds of things. We're gonna lose more soldiers because the insurgents'll be ready.

They are painting the US Armor with arabic saying STAY AWAY so the civis will
have the option and if they come close they will die.

Tikrit, Iraq -- Anti-Iraqi forces failed in their attempt to engage First Infantry Division Soldiers with a vehicle borne improvised explosive device near Taji at about 5:07 p.m. on November 3.

The Soldiers noticed the vehicle approaching their patrol at a high rate of speed and fired warning shots. The vehicle accelerated and crossed into the northbound lane in a hostile, aggressive manner. The patrol engaged the vehicle with crew served weapons and a MK 19 grenade launcher.

The vehicle exploded leaving a crater in the road. Explosive ordnance personnel assessed the vehicle, which contained at least 17-122mm rounds.

and we can cheer this one
Notorious Car Bomber Dies in Own Explosion

Mosul, Iraq – Mehdi Achmed Moussa, a known car bomb maker in Mosul, died from burns suffered when one of his car bombs accidentally exploded in a southern Mosul market last week.

Before his death, Moussa received treatment for his burns at a local hospital where three separate Iraqi citizens identified him as the notorious organizer of car bomb attacks in the Mosul area during the last few months.

ISF, Marines capture Insurgents in Northern Babil

Forward Operating Base Kalsu, Iraq – Iraqi Security Forces with elements of the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit rounded up 41 insurgents during multiple operations south of Baghdad Nov. 5.

In an early-morning raid near Musayyib, about 40 miles south of the Iraqi capital, ISF and Marines captured an individual suspected of manufacturing improvised explosive devices and selling them to local street gangs. The man had two grenades and detonation cord in his possession.

Some 15 miles north of Musayyib, near Lutafiyah, Marines picked up two leaders of an insurgent cell in a pair of raids. A third individual suspected of engaging in insurgent activity was also detained.

During a sweep of the south-central town of Haswah, members of the Iraqi National Guard and Marines netted 28 anti-Iraqi forces, several of whom were specifically targeted for committing acts of terrorism against Iraqi citizens.

Finally, Marines operating in the MEU’s northern sector captured nine suspected insurgents in a series of raids near Yusufiyah.

Today’s gains come one month after ISF and the Marines began intensifying their efforts to hunt down anti-Iraqi forces fomenting violence and terrorizing the local populace. On Oct. 5, the allies spread out in a massive operation aimed at disrupting AIF activity and protecting innocent Iraqis.

Not many, but there won't be many if any bad guys left in Fallujah once the Marines and the Army and the Airforce are done. We are about to witness an asskicking by the Marines like none in recent history

Maybe you dont remember that we already went in, against military opinion, and left for political reasons, again against military opinion.

And scope this:

NEAR FALLUJA, Iraq (CNN) -- A company commander of the Iraqi security forces who received a full briefing on the expected Falluja assault is missing from a military base where U.S. and Iraqi troops are preparing for the possible operation.

The captain, a Kurd with no known ties to the Sunni city of Falluja, is thought to have taken notes from the battle briefing late Thursday. U.S. Marines and his fellow Iraqi officers found no sign of him Friday morning, except for his uniform and a weapon on his cot.

Marines are concerned that the information he knows could be passed along to insurgents. U.S. military sources believe insurgents have friends in the military and government.

The captain commands a company of about 160 men. He is among 10,000 U.S. and Iraqi forces expected to take part in the operation.

Marines say the captain's disappearance won't alter the tactics or timing of the Falluja operation.

Coalition officials hope the missing captain, who was not named, has merely headed home.

Most Kurds in Iraq live in the northeast corner of the country, several hundred miles from Falluja.

Falluja has been in insurgent hands since late April, when Marines were ordered to withdraw from the city's perimeter.

Responsibility for the city was given to a squad of former Iraqi soldiers and police who were from the city, but the insurgency has continued.

The Abu Musab al-Zarqawi terror network is based in Falluja, according to the U.S. and Iraqi governments.

The group has taken responsibility for car bombings, kidnappings and beheadings throughout Iraq. In mid-October, a statement from the terror group posted on an Islamist Web site declared allegiance to Osama bin Laden.

Apparently you dont understand the nature of the war. The iraqi's are fighting an insurgency, and our counter-insurgency tactics are not much improved from 30 years ago. All of the leaders are already long gone from fallujah. It will be house to house fighting, and it will be ugly. Sure we can take the town, thats a no brainer, the question is will it improve our position tactically
