i was thinking lets say an individual has 200 pounds of lean body mass. and lets say he weighs 230 and he decides to diet by.....taking in 100 grams of protien 300 carbs and 50 fats. do you think he would loose much if any muscle even with a high carb cound of 300 grams????????

If you want to cut

eat more protein
and less (very few) carbs

you will absolutely lose muscle, carbs and fats are protein sparing to a degree, but not completely and you must eat enough protein in order to preserve it. 100g is too little for someone your size. This plan will keep you in a constant negative nitrogen balance and will cause muscle loss. Its a undesputable fact you need more protein than what the RDA reccomends, if u want to lower protein take in at least .8g per lb. of bodyweight.

also,

i think for that diet to work , you would need to cut the fat down a lot and replace them with even more carbs. If you are taking carbs in you body will use protien for energy as soon as the carbs run out - not fat. So you probably would not use much of the fat for energy which is what you would want .

If you can intake enough carbs so you body only uses carbs for energy at all times, i don't see how you would lose muscle.
