Hi, i need help, i have low plattletes(im sure i butchered that word)
i am having a blood test done and i need to get them higher, that way there will not be any red flags.
basically mine is at 135(i think ) and it needs to be above 150.

does anyone know what i can do to raise them? are there any supplements/ vitamins that would help? my dr said to eat more red meat, and i will try that...any other advice i would appreciate it.. thanks

i honestly never drink alcoal...mabye 3 times in the past 6 months...i was taking painkillers from a surgery i had...not sure if that would make a diffferance

135 is a number I dream of. Their is a condition called immune thrombocytopenic purpura where the immune system begins destroying platelets. I have it and before begining treatment was at 8.

135 is a number that is high enough that you can have open-heart surgery, and is not something to worry about.

A couple of notes
1) Aspirin inhibits platelet action
2) Vit E inhibits platelet action
3) It is easy to have a wrong low platelet count
4) Platelet counts will vary widely in very short time-frames. a difference of 30-40k in 24hr is not unusual.

As far as increasing platelet count, their really arent a lot of supplements available. You might check out itppeople.com or pdsa.org
