lose bodyfat before bulker?

Hey guys....just wanted your personal opinion. Haven't really been training or eating well in the past 4-5 months due alot of serious issues in my life and definetely added some bodyfat as well as lost considerable muscle mass. I definetley need to regain the mass i lost...i'm sitting around 13-14% bf right now and could stand to gain back about 10 lbs of muscle that i basically threw away. last time i weighed myself i was around 170 at 5'7-5'8

My question is....Should i lean out first before i start my bulker or just say fuck it and go straight through? I have a pretty easy time cutting, much easier than bulking......i'm at a crossroads and not sure what to do. i don't want to be a fat bloated pig but at the same time i don't want to cut if i'm skinnier than i should be....
rather frustrating because i was about 9% and ready to bulk before my life turned upside down. i easily lost close to 10 lbs of LBM in that period
 
It will be easier to cut with lower bf, and a bulker will probably put 2-4% more on your body, i like to start at 12%bf, i find i put on more muscle at that %. Get up and do hr of cardio as early as you can, the earlier the better, and cut down to a 2000 cal. a day diet, with nothing but high protein food. you should loss 5 -10 lbs. then start getting huge. My opinion hope this helps
 
I think SOME guys can benefit from being at a poor beginning stage in the game. If diet and training are out of wack, I'd start training consistently and change the diet from bad calories to beneficial calories and possibly put on some LBM while dropping BF. For most of the bros, it's impossible really, but if you're a t a poor starting point, I think it can be acheived as diet changes for the better.

You have to remember that if you gain muscle during the cycle your also going to be increasing your metabolism...the fat will come off slowly EVEN in a bulker IF you eat clean while bulking.
 
yes if you eat cleanly during bulk the fat will come off and also with the point stated before that the move lbm you have the higher your metabolism and the easier it will be to cut afterwards
 
Hey man ~

I am doing just what you are proposing - I am cutting (for the 1st time in my life - scary after gaining 15 lbs of good size in two years). Went down from about 177 to a lean 165 right now. I am also 5'8", and I topped out at 183 last April (I am a 37 year old baseball player - wanted the extra size to get through the season - I am doing the same again this year - bulk from March to May, with some medicinal help this time).

My waist went from 34 to 32, the rest of the measurements stayed the same using HST. (quads actually went up about 1/2 inch, I love squats) At the end of Feb, I am hitting the bulking cycle again with a 5x5 and the use of gear for the 1st time. If I can get the gut under 32 by the end of the month, all the better. I am feeling a lot better going into a bulker lean that I would otherwise.

Maybe take a month - try a TKD or CKD, drop a few, then eat like a madman...

I would get your bodyfat under 10% before even considering a bulker.
 
depends on how you feel about yourself.. personally if I feel too bloated and gross while bulking I'll cut it short, which doesn't really help me to gain size, so I always try and make sure I'm as lean as possible before bulking.. if you can mentally get past weighing that much and you're ok with it, go for it.. take advanatage of the size you've already got. just bulk clean.. the cleaner you bulk the better you'll feel in general.
 
You need to figure out where you are comfortable.......for me, I never go over 12%, so personally, I'd cut and then push forward.....remember that after a brief cutting phase, you'll be able to bulk 10x easier as your body will just SOAK up the extra cals.........also, saying you're in the low teens now, how can you be so sure? Skinfold? I'm betting that you are higher than what your perception may be...........
