Looking for feedback on physique.....

This was just taken yesterday, there are a bunch more shots but they're on another roll of film so I have to get them developed.

I want to compete in a local level 1 show next year, so I'm taking the next 12 months to add mass but want opinions on where I should focus. This was taken at the end of basically my 2nd cycle, I did do a 3rd one but the gear was bunk. Anyone who knows how to post full size instead of thumbnail fill me in as I don't know how.

In the pic I am 5'9", 217lbs, not sure of bodyfat

Oh, and my left delt is swollen and bruised (prety noticeably) from that bad shot I posted about yesterday), they are normally more balanced

Look good man. You must have put on what....15 pounds since the pic in your avatar?

yup, somewhere around 15lbs

can't really see because of the thumbnail. being a national level bb myself it is hard to tell by a picture. how is your frame? do you look good from a side chest pose? is your back wide? do you have a thin waist? these are all questions you have to ask your self before you step on stage. anybody can put on size and rip up, but not everybody can step on stage. that has to do with genetics. don't go by what people tell you in the gym. if i when't with what people tell me in the gym, i would think i am mr.olympia. people on this board will tell you, you look good, which you do. but to step on stage is a whole differnent ball game bro. not trying to tell you that you can't, just trying to help.

im with bouncer, just about any1 can gain alot of size given enouph food/training/gear, but if your frame/muscle shape is shitty then dont expect to bring home any trophies

WISH i could see the pic, then could perhaps give you decent evaluation

Shit, I really wish I could post this full size, anyone know of a site where I can post them then put up a link

Bouncer, I've been told by a few national level competitors that I have a good frame/build for competing. When ripped, my waist is well under 30", but my chest is somewhere around 48-49", so I've got a good sweep there. I can pull off most of the mandatory poses, there are just areas I know I have to work on, ie, more height on traps, biger calves, etc

You look good bro. I think you'll do well competing for sure. What weight you aiming to come in at? You may be able to come in at the lwoer end of heavyweight with a bit more size. I'm kinda looking at the same problem. I'm 210-215 now and am expecting to come in as a lightheavy but should I come in at the lower end then I doubt I'd have much chance. I was about 10% or less 3 weeks ago now holding water so whatever. My question is though, where do you want to come in and how do you feel about coming in at the lower end of a weight class or have you given it any thought?

given that I have a year until the show I want to do, and I figure that means 2 pretty heavy mass building cycles, it's hard to tell where I will come in. I don't mind coming in at the lower end of the class as most of the guys in that class are a lot taller than me, so I should come out looking a lot thicker than them. I figure I'll just put on as much mass as I can and worry about classes the day of the show

you have some decent symetry going there, shoulder to waist ratio is good, although i would focus on widening out a bit more while trimming down the waist line. You do need more size to be competitive, but you definetly have a nice start

areas to focus on:
1) legs, need to fill thouse out
2) arms (focus on keeping bi's in proportion with calfs)
3) shoulders to balance out the chest , widen out a bit more (but nothing excesive)
4) trim down the waistline

a couple of good mass cycles, followed by contest prep cycle should get you get you enouph fire power to do some damage on stage

Why does he need more size to be competitive? He doesn't have to come in as a heavy or a superheavy to compete and win. There are lots of guys who do very well that are far less massive than needsize is. IT all depends on the weightclass you're going for.

I say your legs, especially your calves need the most work, and then a little more arm and delt size. But you do look really good. Keep up the hard work and good luck.

depends on the show, small local show - perhaps; i was under the impression that he was interested in a more "prestigeous" show. I dont know if you followed SAF's contest prep, and as good as he looked he got blown out and its simply due to the fact that he lacked in size when stood next to the big boyz on stage

still doubt me? go to a show, say junior nationals and see what guyz look like, that will dispell any doubts you might have. size/density is the name of the game.

I realize that but the goal is to come in at the top of your weight class no? That way you are the biggest generally provided you aren't 6'5". I'm simply saying that the ridiculously big guys are in a higher weight class. He has to start with a level 1 show. Not sure what SAF did though.

bro i don't know if you compete or not but either he has to work on putting on a little more size, or he has to get very shredded. at his size now he might do good at a small local show, but to compete in a national level show is a different story.

It is just a local level 1 show, and I'm still taking another year to add mass, hopefully at least another 20lbs, before I give it a shot. From what I understand, I'd place fairly well this year, but I'm not one to do anything half ass so I'd rather take another year to improve myself. Remember too, my first cycle was less than a year ago

Do you not have to start with a small level 1 show? I don't get why you guys are talking national shows? Why would he for his first show? He can't enter level 2 anyways until he's placed in a level 1. Don't you have to place in the top 3 at a level 1 before you can go on to a level 2?

okay, bro for some reason I thought you were doing the nationals. keep up the hard work, and don't forget to come in sharp

nationals my ass, I've seen the competition there!! From the feedback I've gotten from a few guys that were npc judges, apparently I have the overall frame to do well, I just need more mass and to concentrate on weaknesses.

Okay then. I didn't get why you guys were telling him he'd be screwed. he'd do well at the local shows I've seen. You have to start low and work up do you not?

gotta learn to walk before you can run

The competition I'm hoping to do is a local level one, where the guys in the heavyweights are all well over 6" tall, so I'm figuring that if I can come in the same class and basic weight, but much shorter, I should look much thicker. I'm just curious about what areas I should focus on in the next year until then
