Long Term Effects-DNP

It is not a pesticide in the classical sense. It is NOT poisonous. It is an uncoupler, and when your body produces heat, it must be dissipated. Guess what? Insects can't dissipate heat for shit, and they die.

If you don't want to do dnp, fine, nobody is forcing you to. But don't run around like Chicken Little either.

DNP used to be used as a weight-loss drug in the 1930's (I think that's right). It was discontinued as it was shown to be dangerous and cause cataracts. Has anyone who uses on this board noticed any cataracts?

Does the Thyroid ever have a problem returning to normal after normal DNP use. Also, does DNP effect hormones at all?

Thanks

it was used in the early 1900's and banned in 1938 I think, but If I look at the time, and the uses
I guess they did alot of abuses and that why it was banned.

DNP should theoretically increase the risk of any disease states that are associated with free radical damage. Cataract formation is the one already associated with DNP, but I would assume that cancer should be included. Whenever metabolism is elevated free radical formation increases.

Does short term DNP use show any risk for these conditions? No one knows. Thus anyone who uses DNP should use as many antioxidants as possible to offset radical damage.

There were studies done on DNP being a carcinogen. The combination had potential but there was never any real proof to back it up. Same goes for it's teratogenic properties.

To say it's a "risk" when taking the substance is an understatement.

DNP doesnt effect your thyroid! Cytomel or T3 does. Using the 2 together is very potent.
I think if used in moderation and for the correct durations, you will be fine. Even in the long run!

Actually DNP does effect your t3(?) levels. Nothing to worry about since it will balance itself off. No real dangerous chance of permanent damage there. Agreed, t3 Cy(tn)omel is much worse.

Flaming Heterosexual - Heh, yeah. Next thing you know drinking water will be cancerous. Oops to that 3 gallons I put back yesterday. They fail to mention a lot of these studies are done on RATS. Give me a powder load of DNP that I could sprinkle over my entire body and let me suck it down, surely I'd get some negative sides too.

Just too many variables.

Dnp is not carcinogenic. Fonz has addressed this many times.

Dnp does not cause cataracts. If you look at the study that purports the incidence of cataracts in women, and compare it to the population at large, if anything it proves that dnp is anti-cataract.

Yes, it does affect the thyroid, but in a similar way that the keto diet does. It only takes a few days (a couple of weeks) for your thyroid to recover.

Usnic acid...hmmm, I remember something about Dan Duchaine talking about this on the lowcarb list I was on. I really never gave it much thought. I am pretty sure I read a study on it where it was shown to not cause any kind of chromosomal damage. I forget what the test is called, but it's used to gauge this type of activity. Plus I think there are veggies that have usnic acid in them, so I highly doubt there is much potential for damage there.

Now, you have got me interested. Does anybody sell usnic acid? Is it still legal? And how effective is it vs. dnp?

I would think the main problem is that if it is legal, it would be more expensive than dnp is now, lol.

Usnic is supposed to have a similar effect. It is difficult to find however. A reported side effect is chromosomal damage, but I believe DNP can do the same thing. I think usnic acid and any product containing it was pulled from the shelves. You might try a Chinese herbal store-they have all kinds of goodies that the FDA wouldn't go for. I think usnic is still out there in those little stores.

hey TX Longhorn ...i read up alot today after seeing your question on whether or not Usnic acid works...well from what I read this is the conclusion I have come to: people that take Usnic Acid experience almost the same amount of sides associated with DNP usage (the fatigue, sweating, etc.)...but the fat loss that you get from Usnic Acid is not even 5% of what you get from DNP! So I guess its a "loose-loose" situation bro! If I were you I would stick to the low dose two week cycles of this heavenly yellow powder bro! Just teying to help you out with some info since youve helped me out many a times and im greatly in debt to you. laters.
