LOL @ my company

Ask for a big screen tv in your office with surround sound.

Oh .. oh.. and a candy-floss making machine. Those are so cool. You could spend the whole day making the world's biggest candy-floss.

You don't have a job lined up, but they don't know that. I would try to get as much as possible and keep looking for the job you deserve after paying years of dues.

Actually they do know that I don't have a job lined up and that I am just fed up.

Oh. Why did you tell them that?

I still would try to get as much as I can, and keep looking for the job I deserve.

Well when I gave my verbal notice they asked if I had anything lined up, and I'm not going to lie about it.

I'll still be looking for new jobs no matter what they offer.

Yeah, get an ironclad contract for a work week that consists of three eight hour days ONLY, at 2.5 times your current salary ... oh, and any time OVER the contracted time (a 24 hour work week), they pay at triple time ...

What I'm thinking is a 20% raise in base pay, double my field day rate, gauranteed time off when I need it. That would add up to about 20-25K extra per year. Plus let me do the important things in my life like help my niece grow up.

That's a start, but if you're taking this serious then you better build in PLANNED time off, XYZ amount of weeks. I'd have everything put down ON PAPER, hell, have a lawer write it up. And have some sort of clause written in if they renege on the contract you get ....

I'm serious. Scotsman, anything substantially over 2000 hours a year is just insanity. Even the damn President of the US gets a month's vacation!!

People need decompression time, they need to know it's there ...

I have three weeks of paid vacation now, the problem is getting to take it. There will definitely be a binding written legal contract if I am going to stay on with them.

Yeah my job is pretty crazy on the hours, but I don't really mind what I do it's just that not getting a break and some other stuff has gotten out of hand. Plus I don't feel challenged at all anymore, and there's nowhere for me to go in the company as the next level up is a department director and I'm not interested in that due to the increased bullshit without a proportional increase in compensation.
