I m going for my second session of Volumetric Thermotherapy today. I did the first session 2 weeks ago. So far im down 4 lbs. The area we are targeting is my lower back and midsection. The procedure uses RF- unipolar radiofrequency to disrupt the fat cells specifically. This occurs when the therapeutic temp. of 43C is reached. Usually around 60 to 90 seconds in to the procedure. Once 43C is reached the treatment takes about 10 min. for each 10"x10" section to be treated. The procedure uses RF to rapidly heat up the adipose tissue causing a disruption to occur inside the cell eventually breaking down the adipose tissue (lysis) the waste products are the contents of the fat cell which consist of triglycerides, free fatty acids, cholesterol, and all of the other toxins that get trapped in the bodyfat. These eventually make their way to the lymphatic system to exit the body. There are several reasons why I would choose this over liposuction is because there is no down time whatsoever. Its painless and relatively inexpensive. There are a few surgeons in the Chicago area who are switching their liposuction prospects over to this procedure because of the simplicity of it while still delivering great results. It is called the Accent XL which is FDA approved in the US for skin tightening as of May. It has been used in Brazil, UK, and Canada for Fatloss and Cellulite. Plastic surgeons have recently began using it off label for an alternative to liposuction.
