lipitor and your liver

That's why we do HFP's on lipitor pt.'s..

Hey P.S.;

Whenever a doc is going to put a pt on lipitor or any other cholesterol med they always send then to the lab for a baseline Hepatic Function Test. Then every 2-4 mnths they will come back for a HFP to monitor there liver functions. Most all meds you take can cause damage to some degree to your liver, it is the bloods filter. Asprin,(salicilate), ibuprofrin,(acetominophine) and alcohol to name a few can cause hepatic damage. It all depends upon your risk factors and how much of a load your already placing your liver under.

Just get a baseline and have it checked every so often; I would go pre. and mid cycle if your going to use the gear as well.

Yes Lipitor is bad for the liver, but my doctor said this is the lesser of 2 evil. he believes that a strained liver, beats high cholesterol any day.

i have but i refuse to take. i've heard of some bad experiences and he wants me to get checked every 6 months , so i am changing my diets, juicing fruits and veggies and exercising more to combat the cholesterol issue.

my doc also suggest that i drink a glass of wine every night b4 bed. Lipitor lowers the bad, but does not increase the good and this is where the wine comes in. something in wine, helps to increase the good cholesterol...according to my doc.
