Laser surgery

Has anyone had this procedure done?? I know there are a few different types but which one is more effective??... Some of my friends have gotten it done and swear by it.. I'm a little bit apprehensive b/c I heard there are side effects such as halos around lights, bad night vision and dry eyes...

I'm so tired of using contacts all the time b/c they irritate my eyes if I where them too long and my eyes get all red!!! Although, it is a great excuse for when you drink to say that its your contacts that are bothering you even though you're drunk!!!! :)

I'm not a candidate for it myself, but I worked with someone who had it done and he was very happy with it..... Dry eyes was a side effect...

Find a local corneal surgeon....

I'm going to get it done tommorrow orb.

" heard there are side effects such as halos around lights, bad night vision and dry eyes"

From what I understand (from doctors and people who have had it done) that it used to be that way but not anymore.

Why wouldn't you be a candidate??

Lasik supposed to be good, but it can be expensive. My biggest concern is long term effects. Since these procedures are so new, who knows if they will gradually reverse over time or not.

why??

I've talked to many people who have had no problems at all.

They use are more advanced laser and mapping technology now.

The people who get dry eyes, had dry eyes to begin with.

Actually lasik has been around for about 15 years.

The place I'm going to offers free (if you ever need them)touch ups for life as long as you get a yearly eye exam.

I just got the 30 day/30 night contacts, they are the most "breathable" lens out in the market and you can leave them in over night for several days if you need or want to. Give those a try. I'm also interested in lasik, but not at the moment since my eyesight is not that bad yet.

extremely bad idea, you are begging for a corneal ulcer, stop being lazy and take them out at night

I do take them out at night you fucking sheep humper, but you can leave these lenses in if you need or want to. Hence their "30 Day/30 Night" name (duh)

I had an eye infection a few years back that ate a hole thru my cornea. Can no longer wear contacts either.....Due to the hole, I can't get the laser surgery done.....

It's glasses for me for the rest of my life....

You should look into Custom Lasik. It’s when they use a device to get the most accurate reading of your eye sight, and then program the laser with those results for the best correction. By what I have read, it’s supposed to improve night vision and minimize halos.

A friend had it done and currently has 20/15 (better then 20/20) after surgery. She suffered from myopia, and had contact prescription of 4.0 on each eye (which I believe is not bad).

And BTW, its not cheap at all, it ran around $5k :(

I had it done about five years back. It was the best $5000 I spent. No halos or anything.

I wear glasses and probably will for many years if not the rest of my life. Maybe someday I'll go for the lasers, but I just don't mind glasses enough to warrant it right now.

I'm sure you're probably a cutie either way!!! :p

Well I had my lasik done this morning, It's awesome so far. I can see 20/20(maybe a little better) no problems at all.

The whole procedure took a whopping 1 hour. The procedure was unpleasant at most, but I have a thing about my eye anyway.

I'd highly reccomend having it done. :)

AFter you get the procedure done do you have to cover your eyes from the light??
I would think they would be sensitive from having the procedure done??

They were sensitive to the light and stung and burned(all normal) a little, but you take a nap for a few hours and it goes away.

I had mine done at 10:00am(they were finished by 11:00AM) and by 4:00 PM(when I woke up) they were fine.

no problems and I can see awesome at night.
:)

Best money I ever spent.

I had it done about 2 months ago. I had the custom Lasic surgery and it cost me a little over 4K.

Would I recommend it? Yes. My site was very bad - something like 400 was mentioned and now it's 20/20 to 20/15. I was shocked, to say the least. But I do caution you that I have had dry eyes and that is very annoying, but everything else is great. The doctor said that it takes around 90 days and then hopefully the dry eye problem will be no more. I also took Accutane off and on for years and I have dry lips and a dry nose - so now it's the eyes too! ha.

I went with the custom, because given my luck, the laser would've missed my eye and sliced open my penis.

You get a cheap pair of old person sun glasses (the ones that fit over regular glasses) to wear for the first few hours, but after that (and a quick nap) you'll good to go.

I can still remember myself waking up from the nap and looking across the room and seeing the time. The first thing I thought was that I went to sleep for too many hours. The very second thing I thought was, "Hey, I can see the clock CLEARLY!"

I have seen a discount on Lasik

Less than $500 / eye

Is it too good to be true ?

Lasik has come along way so prices have dropped considerable from when I did it. However, I do recall a $1000 per eye doctor in my area and thought to myself, "this is one time I don't want to be bargain hunting..."

Yes

The whole $495 per eye is bullshit.

Average price anywhere is around $1500 per eye.

Unless you're having your lasik done outta the back of "Dr. Juan's" el camino.

Not always. My friends got it at the 500 per eye price and have no issues. Me, I just didn't want to take the chance and am stupid enough to believe the "cost more, MUST be better..." mantra.
