Laser eye surgery

Has anyone had it? Do you recommend it? Does anyone know if there aer any longterm complications showing up yet from this precedure?

Had it done in 04 and love it. Back when it first started to become popular there were some minor issues but today your in and out in 1 hour and the surgery is painless. However be aware that this is no permanent fix as you age your eyes will get worse and follow ups are needed in most cases and most places offer different packages mine for example is free life time follow ups and touch ups so to speak. Just shop around and do a little back ground research on the Doctor and the office.

My wife had it on both eyes in 2005. It's a big improvement, but it DOES HAVE PROBLEMS to go along. Ever since the surgery, her tear ducts are too wide, so her eyes get dry too quick. It's a bad problem, and she has to go to the opthalmologist every 6 months to get plugs stuffed into the inner tear ducts. (the tear ducts that drain the eyes into the nose). And also, she still needs reading glasses. She's 50/50 on whether it was worth it, and just for the record, she had glasses when I met her, and she was "nerdly cute" with them. I kind of wish she still wore them all the time. The doctor says she might do well with a followup procedure about now, but she hasn't gone for it.

That's not good and a new one to me. I know you temporarily have tear problems, but it subsides. By chance did they have to shave her cornea usually that's the only time you severe sides. Stay on top of it. I'll be going back in a few years did she get a package deal or he wanting to charge her for the follow up

She had an astigmatism, and I don't know whether they shaved the cornea to try to fix that... Her doctor (considered one of the best in Los Angeles; not one of the ones who advertises all the time with cheap prices on TV), said he'd charge a discount but doesn't consider it a touch-up to the original operation. Her tear duct problem was supposed to go away, and maybe in the past several years it has improved, but still needs the plugs or she goes crazy trying to keep drops in her eyes.

Also, maybe a factor, she's Texan, so she spent 30 years in radical humidity... Then moved to the dry SoCal desert climate, and the doctor thinks that could be a factor. Her body was used to not needing to keep so much eye moisture in Texas. Same as how I'm a CA native, and I can wear waterproof work boots all day in the sun, and my feet don't sweat or stink. But get me in Dallas for one day, and I need foot powder and 2 pr. socks a day.

Well I hope its a big discount. Mine wasn't cheap but the glasses thing was getting old...My biggest mistake was going back to work the next day everything was so damn bright...... But well worth it now..

I had it done about 4yrs ago. Best $3700.00 Ive ever spent. Wish I would have done it long ago. I was 41 when I had it done. Well worth it.
