Tailoring pants...(I would have posted this on the style and grooming board but the board is slow as shit)

Anyway...can pants be taken in more than once without making them look worse when they are taken in the 2nd time?

When I buy work slacks or clubbing pants/slacks I usually buy 36/38 inch waist, depending on brand, to fit my legs comfortably…and I have been dieting recently and I can no longer wear these pants even with the belt tightened all the way as I have for the past month or so..…I want them taken in to maybe a 32….but I’m still losing fat and will end up needing them to be taken in again to maybe 30/31…will doing that 2 times mess up the pants?

Thanks ladies

If you can belt a 36 down to 33 without being annoyed, then why not tailor them to 32 and belt to 31? You could also add another button or hook to the inside so you can pull it over more without having to buy a smaller belt.

Hmm GOOD POINT…ok yeah maybe I can and will do that…THANKS!!

The only thing is..I can belt the pants down a few inches and have my shirt hanging out…but if the shirt is tucked in like at work and such then it looks silly…that was what I was worried about.

But I’ll see how it looks…thanks

I think taking them in to 32 is a good idea.

I don't know if you ever buy pants with a small pattern (like houndstooth, pinstripes, or something like that), but taking in the waist only of a pair of pants that much might make your pattern look 'diagonal' at the taken-in part. ( I don't know how men's pants are taken in. Just the waistband or the upper hip area, too?) Just something to keep in mind.

You should talk to a good tailor -- they could give you these answers and maybe suggest a particular cut or brand of pants that is more easily tailored w/o showing the modifications.

Hell yeah…imagine if I tucked my shirts in with the belt all tightened to the last notch…looks like friggen MC HAMMER clown pants..blah…need to take them in, I think ill go down to 32 and just belt it tighter to 30 when I drop the last few lbs..

Thanks ladies

" I feel ya dog"

Ever since I started doing legs again a few months ago(haven't done them hard in years because of ruptured ACL) I have thrown out all my pants and jeans. I think I have like two pairs of pants that fit.

Go to go shopping!

Shit...what the fak am I gonna wear tonight.
