I thought this question was to the ladies...
Uhhh, never. That's a word that's really only good when you need to be REALLY specific, and that sort of specificity doesn't lend itself to sexual intimacy 
You teach your children that word, you use that word when you go to the doctor ....
For lovers, personally I've always preferred pet names (and no I'm not telling).
