Knowing what to do with your life.

I'll be graduating college in May. I'll be 24 when it happens and I'm damn glad that I'll be done with school. But as the date approaches, I grow more and more fearful of it as I have no idea what the hell I'm supposed to do next. I've worked in the finance business for about three years now while in college and really like it, but I often wonder if I like it because I've never done anything else!
For those of you who have been here, how did you cope with that issue? Was it as difficult for you as it is turning out to be for me?
And, the "do what your heart tells you" answer is kinda out the window because it (my heart) isn't telling me crap.

Any advice/stories would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks!

I'm about to go back to school after a number of years in the workforce. I have no clue what I want to do either. At least you have a degree...

Is there any other field you're curious about? Talk to people with work that appeals to you, ask them what their day consists of, what kind of peole they meet, the challenges they face. You can try something new, and go back to finance if it doesn't work out. Nothing is permanent.

I think you should kinda map out some of the major goals that you have in life for a start.

After you have your goals in mind, think about the means it will take you to get there.

Then look for professions that will give you those means as well as the freedom to meet your goals.

(Keep in mind that your goals may change if you have children some day)

There are a few yes, and I know that nothing is permanent. The post-failure recovery is more what I'm worried about: if the problem arises.
I should probably just be happy that the world is my 'oyster' and go have fun somewhere, however, that seems easier said than done . . .
Glad to know there are others in the same boat as I. :friends:
