Oh God please say it ain't so.....They aren't going to cast Hasselhoff are they?
That's it kill me now!!!!!!!!! Next thing you now they'll be making new Love Boat episodes. Now I KNOW why I don't watch TV anymore except for Sports, Discovery channel and the occasional MTV video where I can see Britainy Spears or Janet Jackson

However, GM is only going to make the F-body (camaro, firebird) for one more year (2002), then stop production...... so it would seem that if the show lasts more than a year.... the car will be considered old (which is not good for 'cutting edge' wannabe techy shows)

I am the expert on Knight Rider, even though i was only 2 when the show first aired. I've owned 3 trans ams cause of that show.
KITT's evil twin was KARR...Knight Automated Roving Robot...KITT was the Knight Industries Two thousand. The show was more than a cheesy lame techy show. The Team Knight Rider which came out a few years ago was lame. The people wore these ugly ass jump suits and called themselves knight rider. Michael Knight never referred to himself as the knight rider..It was just the name of the show.
In TKR they brought back KITT but he was in a glass jar and didnt even sound like that guy (mr feeny from boy meets world)
The Trans Am in 82 was one of the most modern looking cars of its day when KR came out. It had the lowest drag coeficient for production cars due to its sleek "airplane like" styling. I still think the TA looks bad ass but with the end of the 4th Gen ( a 5th one is planned for 2004) I doubt they wouild use a TA even though I would love to see that car on the road again.
GM didnt like all the puiblicity it got from Knight Rider. Although sales skyrocketed for the cars, dealers were complaining people would come in asking for the Knight Rider version and so KR had to stop referring to KITT as a trans am. You'll notice how he doesnt call himself a Trans am in the later seasons or making remarks like "Its driving like that that gives the Trans Am a bad name" (That was from one of the episodes with KARR and KITT in a high speed chase through the center of town.
If they bring the show back they cant clutter the show up with a bunch of different super cars. Having one super car would be cool enough and build the show around that but to add drama they can add some sort of relationship between the some cast members. If done right it can be a drama for the 15-30 yr old crowd instead of some kiddie power ranger show...

No, i didnt have the red scanner on my front end. When I had my TA's I was young and poor. The light was cheap but the front end kit to install it in was close to 1000 i think. I know a guy who turns his TA into an exact replica with working TV's lights and everything...Last i heard he was selling KITT for 19,000.
TKR was a watse but the girls were hot...One of them was atleast. I saw th show maybe 2 times and got sick of it. KR2000 was a lot closer to the original although they didnt have the actual Car in it but I liked the way they worked Kitt into becomming that new banchee at the end.
From what I heard TKR got a lot of crap from the people who were fans of the old school Knight rider. David once said that he would only do another Knight Rider if hwas was in charge of it. Im sure the new one will be as close as possible to the old one...

I didnt like KR cause of hasselhoff. I liked it cause of KITT. I think the Trans Ams were the baddest cars of that time. They looked better than almost anything on the road in my opinion.
My knowledge of TransAms/Firebirds is more than that of Knight Rider. I didnt like TKR mainly because they did use fords...Of course 3 years later I am driving a product of ford..Oh well
