Been using them for years and tried many different ways, this works best for me …
Start just above your knee and made one complete wrap …
Now cross diagonally over the front of your knee and make one complete wrap just below your knee …
Cross diagonally across your knee again in the opposite diagonal as you had done previously …
Now you'll be on the top again, wrap around your knee spiraling downward till you have complete coverage of the entire knee area.
You are now done.
BTW - Make the wrap as tight as you can.
