Kitten Killer Gets Year in Jail

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) - A former prison guard was sentenced to a year in jail Friday for crushing five kittens to death in a trash compactor.

Ronald Hunlock's offense was "so offensive and so calculated and so gratuitously cruel it diminishes the humanity of everybody," Justice Kenneth Lange said.

Hunlock, 48, was convicted of aggravated cruelty to animals.

He discovered the newborn kittens and their mother in an inmate's cell at Sing Sing last March and ordered the inmate to put them in the compactor. When the inmate refused, Hunlock did it himself. The mother cat escaped.

"I made a bad decision and I'm sorry," he said.

Defense attorney Daniel Gallivan said Hunlock thought the cats were deathly ill.

I just love it when the CO gets a taste of his own shit! They usually have to spend all their time in isolation for their own safety. But in another way, they have been locking themselves up every day for years. I never got the whole CO thing. Alot of them treat the convicts like shit when they should actually be thanking them for the gainfull employment. Some of them actually gave a fuck and would help out now and again.

I love animals, particually cats.....

I remember when I was 17, I saw a guy kick this stray dog for no reason so my friends ignored it but I went over and kicked the guy in the bollocks(grabbing him by his jacket)..... see how he's like it. Of course everyone was saying that he'd call the cops(he was in a suit) but he did'nt. I think he figured that I was going to mug him as I was pretty big even then(and without gear!).

So anyway, a decade later and if I saw/ knew of someone doing this to kittens, I WOULD PROBABLY END UP INSIDE NEXT TO THEM!

Btw, I became even tried becoming vegatarian last year for 3 months out of principle.

I've not had a cat in about 4 years since mine was killed. I think if I had seen this asshole do this, I would have gone off on him so quickly, someone would have had to pull me off. He deserved what he got.

I'm a cat lover, I have three myself. I could never hurt a kitten, what a malicious individual. He must have been seriously stressed out or something to go and do that.

BTW, to clarify my point.

a) It is far worse to abuse a child or rape a woman than to kill kittens in a trash compactor.
b) Sentences for abusing children or raping women can be of the same magnitude as a one year sentence. (as long, twice as long or so)
c) Therefore, either the sentence for the kitten killer needs to be reduced, or the sentences for child abusers and rapists need to be increased. I think both.

For the love of god people, if you're not a vegetarian you CAN NOT complain about this. Do you know how chickens and cattle and shit are treated? And if you've ever eaten pate...

I love animals and I have 2 cats myself. If I ever seen anyone do this I would go apeshit.

In fact one of my brothers when we were kids he drowned a fucking cat in a metal barrel full of water because it was meowing too loud. Whe I found out about this from one of the other kids and saw the dead cat in the barrell I kicked the shit out of him then beat the shit out of him more.

Stupidest part is mom got pissed off at me( trust me she is his fucking baby even now at his age of 29, dumb bitch, if I had have been older and smarter I would have kicked her ass too for even questioning me for doing it)

I was like 12-13 at the time and he is 3 years younger.

My attitude about the toruring of animals is this. If you are going to beat an animal the fraction of your size just to do it or for whatever reason then you deserve what anyone your own size does.

And dont anyone give me that vegetarian bullshit above. There is a big difference between killing an animal for the sake of killing and killing an animal for food.

Last fall my boss was riding his bicycle down his road when car passed him that was throwing kittens out of the window at high speeds....every 50 feet or so. He said that he hates cats...but the sight of that brought mad tears to his eyes.

Nope, I eat animals coz I need to.

But they are killed humanley, I would, if I have to kill a cow, sheep myself.

When I became veggie I lost 10lbs in 3 months and a shit load of lifting capacity.....

That tells me that we are natural carnivores(sp.)

BUT, if I saw any motherfucker torturing an animal(except Bin Ladin) I would swing for that m/f.

This is a damn good point.

Why do they have to be such dickhead's all the time? I mean, where's the help? It's not in isolation. They should reward people that earn a diploma or degree while in jail, a reduced sentence. Once they have the skills necessary to get a job, they won't have to steal people's shit, or whatever they did.

Ah well... probably wouldn't do much good once you checked the felony box on the application anyway.

Had you bothered to read my previous replies, you would have seen I am not a PETA type at all; in fact, I think a one year sentence is incredibly harsh (as I said earlier, you can do that amount for fucking RAPE!).

My point was this. People are getting so angry and inflamed about what the man did to the cats (caused them needless pain). Most of the animals we eat for food are caused needless pain - if we were truly concerned about animals' pain, we'd find ways for them to live happier lives and much more humane ways to kill them before we eat them. I was pointing out the utter hypocrisy of most people in this thread.

It's not only the method of death (I presume you are referring to the difference between being put in a trash compactor and being killed for food). It's quality of life. Take chickens, for instance. They live absolutely hideous lives when being raised for food or eggs. If someone is complaining about the way the cats were killed (brief pain) and does NOT complain about the way various animals we eat for food are treated (lives of pain, and somtimes painful deaths), then they are a hypocrite.

That is my only point.

Everyday I asses quality of life. Roper, Rogers, Logan, you name it... as a nurse this is what I do.

Here, the ministry of agriculture have VERY stringent guidlines regarding slaughter. I can assure you that if farmers conform then the animals are nor put in ANY unnescary pain.

Unlike the humans I see dying because fuckface Dr's are intimadated by lawsuits prescribing the appropriate amount of narcotic painkillers lest the patient dies from respitory arrest and the family sues the hospital.

i learnt a lot of what they did to animals.....pretty damn sad, but in many cases necessary, as without that knowledge they wouldnt be able to save human lives

on thing they havedone in the past is purposely cause spinal damage to a cat, causin neurological damage, then drop it onto a running treadmill to see what happens. it obviously got thrown off, while it seems HORRIBLY gruesome (cat died later obviously), it was totally necessary to understand neurological processes in animals

so why was this guys sentence so severe? i hve a feeling parole and appeal will shorten his sentence and its in a less than hi security building. given someone can shoot a deer in its stomach and leave it to bleed rto death i cnt understand why this was so severe even if i hate the peron for doing i and would probably assault him
