Kidvilla, calling you out.

You stated on another thread you could bypass any software firewall in 15 seconds.

So for a thousand USD, here's the challenge...

Post a copy of /etc/passwd from the following machine:
216.20.237.120

By "any" he probably meant anything that was Microsoft from a few years back and totally unpatched.

And by "15 seconds" he probably meant "within the same week as long as nobody is monitoring the machine."

Either way, his user name sucks.

I'll bet he's fat as hell.

Hell recently went on the Atkins diet, nowadays Valhalla is far fatter.

On my system, I have an elaborate system of duble rot13 encryption on all of my important documents.

I tried to do triple rot13 so that it would be strong like triple DES, but then it ends up just making shit hard to read.

I simply don't save important documents, in fact I just don't do anything important at all. :fro:

I run FreeBSD on one of my servers.

And technically anyone here gay enough to run MacOSX (*cough*CODE*cough) is running a gussied up version of FreeBSD.

Yeah, I have Freebsd 8.1 on my network. And the mac kernel rocks, it's soo pretty. :)

I thought I felt something on my ass.

I don't know what I run because I have a dedicated server through a colocated facility.

The prices in the states are way better than here in my world, so I go with that.

is it expensive to live there? you sit on the beach all day and smoke reefer, right?

1) this thread isn't about me. It is about some candyass on here that was trying to front about how cool he is with a computer even though he is just barely able to comprehend sitting at dad's computer and downloading some script kiddie +001z and pointing them at some wide open computer to get a whole lotta nothing from it.

2) you likely have the wrong island. You are probably thinking of Jamaica. While yes, it is quite expensive here, and while yes, there are people that do smoke up - it isn't in fact a national past time here and no, I don't in fact sit on the beach and smoke up.
I have been to the beach here about 3 times since I moved.

he fell down the stairs.

0wn3d by gravity.

Yeah, he's logged in to EF.
And I'm not really seeing anything trying to get into that IP address....

Or maybe you're right, he fell down and is laying on the ground in front of his PC trying to get to www.medicalert.com for help.

I'm gonna have to add this guy to my favorites list.

So far my favorites are anyone that is so retarded that I'm amazed that they can get the computer to work so that they can come on here and spew retardedness all over my screen.
I won't mention any names and instead I will just verbally abuse them every time I see their user name in a thread.

Is your last name Fastow?

Nope.
He is one of the Enron dudes right?

They used to have a base here.

Not that big a deal really since there are thousands of companies that are based here for legal reasons.
The American press will have you think that it is tax reasons, and while I'm sure they enjoy that part, that isn't the reason to base a company division here.

Yes, he's one of the Enron dudes.

So enlighten me on why a company should base a division (or any other part) in the Bahamas?

The beach, weed, and smoking bikinis?

Okay, well first off, I live in Bermuda.

Bermuda is not in the Bahamas. The Bahamas are in the Carribean. Bermuda is 700 miles east off the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
Bermuda is 1000 miles North of the Carribean.
American lumps the Carribean, Bermuda, and much of Latin America in together when they setup phone systems - that is about as close as we get.

Bermuda is pretty much an England colony when all is said and done.

Bermuda has the advantage over the Bahamas in terms of moving companies there (they don't usually actually have offices here - there are only a few hundred that do that, as opposed to the thousands that have boxes here).
The Bahamas is a poor area. They have crime and corruption and a weak infrastructure.
Bermuda is classy, clean, low crime, and the infrastructure is high class and well done. (that said, our networks are a few years back from that of the states in terms of speed simply due to the costs involved can't be spread out over as large a pool of people/companies).

The tax benefit is that if a US company is based in Bermuda, then they can avoid paying US taxes on money made overseas. So if they are a multinational company, then they can avoid paing US taxes on money that they make in Germany. (It is less clear to me if they also avoid German taxes this way - I would assume not since they can't avoid US taxes this way - so you only pay taxes in the areas where you make the money).
That in the end, while is quite nice, isn't enough to make companies move here.

The main reason is the English legal system.
The American legal system is mocked by the world at large, and it is becoming so that America in general is becoming mocked too.
Companies base in Bermuda to avoid the US legal system.
That way, if company Y has a branch in California and a branch in New York - if the California branch does something to dick over the New York branch, then the CA branch can sue them, but they won't get very far.
The English system is more efficient and throws out many more cases, quickly too.
In the states, it isn't always thrown out, and even if it is, it can be tied up for years - wasting a lot of money on legal fees.

That isn't the full case - it gets much more complex as parts of companies start loaning money or more importantly, insuring other parts of themselves.

In the end, it is just easier to say that it is legal issues that they move here.

Well I got a few more pings than I usually do.

I can only assume kidvilla hasn't read this thread, or he's hacked the time/space continuum and extended his 15 seconds by a day or so.
