Ketosis, huh???

ALright, I think I have most of this stuff figured out but just one question. Does my carb intake have to be absolute zero to get into ketosis?? Right now Im taking in about 13-15g of carbs per day, is that too much??

It's almost impossible to take in zero carbohydrates, but I believe that 13-15 is too much. Think you need to keep it below ten.

i really don't agree with that figure, its really going to depend on the person. i consume about 3-4 protein shakes a day just because i don't always have time to eat "real" food at work. depending how much protein i use, i may get as much as 16 grams of carbs for that one drink. i've monitored my urine and my body has never left ketosis. i would have to say if you can keep your carbs to at least under 50 grams you will have no problem. Your body will eventually burn those carbs up throughout the day. Alot of this is trial and error, what may work for someone else may not always work for you. Buy some ketone strips and experiment with your diet till you can find what works best for you. thats the only real way to tell

It depends on the person, but if your like me and on Atkins, its usually around 0-40. I stay well in around 25gms/day. REMEMBER - It takes less to get you into Ketosis, than it takes it keep you in. HOWEVER, there is a small thresh hold before you hit overkill and knock yourself out.

Also, watch your protein intake. To much will knock you out of Ketosis. It usually takes about 3 days to get into Ketosis. You have to process all of the ecess carbs, and let your body stabilize blood sugar first.
