Ketone Stix, who has used them?

I have 'em, read the instructions, and it has a spectrum with beige on one side, and dark purple on the other side.

It says after you dip the stix in urine to check the color in comparison to the chart after 40 seconds, but the instructions doesn't indicate which color means you're in ketosis.

I'm assuming if your urine makes the reagent part of the stick turn purple that you're in deep ketosis right?

Yeah, i've lost 15 lbs thus far, but i cheated big time like 2 days ago, stopped eating carbs, so i want to see if im in ketosis again. I just bought these stix yesterday.

If the beige turns deep purple, you're in ketosis. If it stays the same color you're still burning carbs as your primary energy source. Not sure if that cleared anything up....

BTW you can just pee on it if you want or run it past your stream. It may not be as accurate if you are borderline but it works just fine if your urine has a ton of ketones in it

Yes. If you're following a CKD you just check the strips in the morning and that will tell you if you're in ketosis and burning fats as fuel. Then you don't have to worry about fats being stored as bodyfat throughout the day. Provided that your carbs are down as low as possible.

You must spread Karma before giving some to alex again.
:) What is the amount of carbs that should be taken in on the CKD diet?I dont have search because I am not plat at the moment :worried:

Makavelli likes as close to 0 as you can get. The Bodyopus and similar diets have a maximum of 20 grams of carbs, but when you're just starting from a high/normal carb diet it's best to go as low as you can for the first few weeks. Ideally the diet is 70% fat 30% protein to get the most out of it, but I could never get to that ratio. As long as you're in ketosis it works just as good.

I couldn't find any sample diets online, but here's a good crash course site on CKD.

http://www.biblelife.org/ketogenic.htm

Towards the middle of the page it gives a pretty good summary of bodyopus.
I got the Keto stix at CVS and I have started the diet, kinda hard getting used to eating 70% fat and 30% protein though.I am having a hard time finding foods that I like with these ratios.
