I have used Linux on and off since '96. In '95 I heard a lot about it and wanted to try it out, didn't get around to it until later.
I really like AfterStep in terms of window managers since it is pretty lightweight. Although enlightenment has been amazing from day one. Like I said, doesn't matter much for me now since I really only want terminal/console access. Although I would love to use the GUI xemacs again (I hear vi users growling, but I like vim too).
I mainly like the look and feel of Gnome, but haven't had to program for either of them - and like I said, they are sort of both evolving to the same point in terms of look and feel, so I'm not sure how much it matters.
I do know that I have always hated motif.
oh, and yeah, my power is on here at work - but not at home. it likely won't be on at home for another few weeks, but for the rest of this week and maybe the weekend, I'm going to move into my future father in law's place (he has power).
