I noticed that too. first off they had the message in the wrong col and it looked funny.

this is so retarded.

now please explain to me the difference between karma and a pm
the difference is there is a counter.

I think it's the whole 1000 character thing, except maybe you can send 1000 characters in a karma message. I've never tried.

A PM is a way to talk to someone privately, somewhat like email, yet less secure and with some added restrictions such as message length. It is a quick way to repond or reply with a user specific question.

Karma is a way to show your appreciation (or disgust) with something someone posted. This translates over to little green squares. Theoretically someone with a bunch of green squares has given out a lot of good, helpful, meaniful advice. When I see a bunch of green I assume that person has added a lot of value over the past couple years (either that or posted a lot of porn).

You could always just PM the person and show your gratitude, but then it would stay private, and newbies like me would never know the true quality of this person's posts.

I've said this in another thread, but when I see some advice that looks really good, I check the person's post count and Karma. If someone has posted 4000 messages but has 1 green dot.. I am wary... if they have posted 4000 messages and have 3 or 4, I know that they have not just been spouting bullshit.

I've never in the past signed karma as someone else - but now that this system is in place, I will never sign it as myslef. I will always sign as some other random board member - which will go nicely with the random phrases and offensive comments I used in the first place.

all I know is that this karma system taps into all that is good and evil in this world and truly shows my self worth - without it, I am nothing and I lose the will to live.

What is the big deal w/ karma?
Why do I keep reading threads where people ask for karma? Must you have those little green dots to validate your post?!?!?

I don't think so! I've gotten good advice from people here and honestly, I don't give a shit about how much good karma they have!:)

I don't think that karma necessarily shows the quality of one's posts. There are people who post a lot of great and useful info on the anabolics board who have lots of posts and not a lot of karma. Then there are some of us who end up aquiring karma because of fairly info-useless factors (ie: pic and silliness).

In any case using karma as an assessment of the quality of someone's advice is not very useful. Most people on the anabolics board (the quality of whose advice I am assuming you are attempting to asess), do not really use the karma function.

Most people with huge karma have racked it up on the chat board for quite irrelevant trivial reasons usually.

Gay people often talk with a lisp so that all "S" sounds end up sounding like a "TH." Also, they artificially make their voice an octave higher than it would normally be. I'm not saying this is all homosexuals but it's common enough.

I would say that one may saying something like "I enjoy your....." anything to another man is a fairly gay sounding statment. Its just not something straight guys say to straight guys typically.

I hope you didn't take offense to me prefacing my statement with "Without sounding gay.." It was basically a disclaimer saying that what I was about to type could very well be taken as something pretty gay.. but I am not.

And regarding 68GT350... I mean its a stereotype.. but its pretty true.. there are 3 gay guys I work with and you could pick them out of a crowd after 2 words from each of them.. there is this accent almost.. their voices are soft, soothing, oh I can't describe it.. but its distinguishable.

karma should, but doesnt work like that, as you can see with the karma whore threads, and i know there are some people here who are very knowledgable but have very little karma.
