Yeah, I was wondering why he gets his ass handed to him all the time. He was in Thin Red line too....got himself shot 1/2 hr into the movie.

However, He got to nail Claire Danes in My So-Called-Life. Nothing wrong with that.

This sounds like the kind of deeply disturbed, tripped out movie that I might like to avoid. I've never even watched "Silence of the Lambs" all the way to the end. And the rape scene in "Showgirls" made me feel ill. I can handle lots of straight up violence (I saw "Saving Private Ryan" five times on the big screen), but that involved psychotic psycho-drama stuff just doesn't sit well.

Have yet to see the movie, but read the book by Hubert Selby Jr. two years ago. I got the shakes from just reading about it.

Sleby's writing style (for some of his books) takes a little getting used to. His lack of punctuation and dialoge sequences can get confusing - but once you settle in - the characters and their words envelope you.

Try out LAST EXIT TO BROOKLYN - read it first, then watch the movie. Violence and the downward human spiral in one book. Fantastic.
