just installed second operating system, now cant boot to xp

i just installed windows 2k pro on a second partition and now i get the error message saying a file is corrupt when i try to start xp

Aww sheat.. you've done it now!

Never played with 2 Windows O/S's on one HD, but if you want to get back into XP you should be able to take any bootable floppy disk with fdisk on it, and boot with it, then do FDISK.EXE /MBR to restore the boot sector.. It'll probably erase any link to the W2K OS install, so you'll have to read up in XP about putting that back in, it might be as simple as an entry in boot.ini, but I don't know for sure. That should make XP boot again.

okay... can i just boot to the recovery console and do fdisk that way????

you should be able to.. I didn't know if you had the recovery console installed on the HD.
