I just finished writing this Persuation speech. If you can do me a favor and read and make some comments I'll be very greatful
I have it seperated after each sentence so I pause and look up while presenting it. I hope it is enough for a persuation speech. I know its long and asking people to read it is asking for a BIG FAVOR but again I'd really appreciate it.
Do you suffer from unexplained illness? Like fatigue, muscle pains, upset stomach, lethargy, dizziness, and headaches?
If so, you could be one of many that are being exposed to a colorless, odorless, toxic gas called carbon monoxide.
More than two hundred fatalities each year in the United States are contributed to carbon monoxide poisoning associated with gas-fired appliances.
These fatalities could possibly been avoided if these victims homes were equipped with a carbon monoxide detector.
In the United States only 25 cities have a mandatory law that all households must be equipped with some sort of carbon monoxide detector, New York is not one of these cities.
Some people are either unaware of the danger of not have a detector in their home, while some avoid them for thinking they go off at low un-harmful levels.
Carbon monoxide is the most commonly encountered poison in our environment.
It is responsible for more recent deaths than any other poison.
This is the number one cause of unintentional poisonings, resulting in death in the world.
In a recent tragedy on Long Island, a Family of six died from inhaling Carbon Monoxide in their sleep.
A Carbon Monoxide detector could have alerted them and saved their lives.
Ken Giles, a spokesman from the consumer product safety commission stated that nearly 5,000 people a year in the United States visit the emergency room, and get treated for Carbon Monoxide poisoning.
Carbon Monoxide is often called the “Great Imitator” because its symptoms are almost identical to other common illnesses.
Many people that suffer from Carbon Monoxide symptoms are misdiagnosed and treated for the Flu.
Many people live in a household with low levels of poison in the house and develop many physical problems.
The only way to protect you and your family from this deadly poison and that’s installing a detector in your home.
The consumer products safety commission recommends that each home in the U.S. needs at least one Detector in their home.
If possible you should have one in every sleeping area.
The detector you purchase should meet the International Approval Services Standard and cost no more than $40.
You should choose a detector that features a test button, this checks the entire detector, and makes sure it is running properly.
If you choose a plug-in detector and have a power failure, the detector might temporarily be disabled.
If you choose a battery operated one, which is the safest, you should change the battery at least once a year.
A good way to remember to change the battery is to change it on daylight savings time.
There are meant commercials around daylight savings time reminding you to change you carbon monoxide detector battery and also your smoke detector battery.
In conclusion, if the state made it mandatory for Detectors in every house in every city, these problems would be solved before the problems began. If there was a law in New York mandating carbon monoxide detectors, the family of six that died, right here on long island, in there sleep would probably been alive today.
