was it better or worse than ID4?

could it be worse? the HORROR!

it ain't gonna be a Braveheart. I think we're all content with that fact.

But is it entertaining???? or a 3 hour bore like Troy. Or a waste of good film and extras like Envy?

Sorry to leave you hanging guys.

Updates:

Special effects were pretty good.

It was entertaining for the first 45 minutes.

They need to make a movie where a 700 foot Rosie O'Donnell starts terrorizing and destroying big cities.

That would be one hell of a fucking scary movie.

also way more realistic

Thought it was pretty cool, didn't end at all like I thought that it should.

i saw it today as well. it was terrible... terrible...
it was like "deep impact"- something catostrophic occurs on earth.. man kind sticks together, triumphs.. and all that other bull shat. its basically an hr and half of some dude walking across snow. there are elements of a formula shitty film:

SPOILER ALERT- AVERT EYES IF YOU DONT WANT TO BE SPOILED
dad whose never around (workaholic)
son is angry (grr..)
mother who sees from son's POV, but still loves husband (her make up/hair is never touched throughout this film-weird when there is a -150 degree fahrenhite blizzard going on outside)
one guy who is the hero (he knows the truth)
no one listens to him till its too late
the son has a crush on this girl
they fall in love at the end
the stupidest part of this movie is when atmostpheric air comes from the high above and starts descending upon new york- freezing everythign it touches. however, the humans have it beat. apparently -150 air can be stopped by a simple door. whoa!
son and dad settle differences

GAY! dont go see this sad excuse of a film by roland " i cant do scripts" emmerich.

You can't make a good movie out of special effects alone. The foolish promoters gave away 99.9% of the movie in the previews.
It would be lame without the special effects I will agree.

But special effects are pretty cool.

My suspicion is that it is a hard story to deliver in an entertaining manner. Thye could have done much better however. The efforts to attract a broad spectrum of viewers were amateurish in my opinion. The mini story about the stars wife and the sick kid in the hospital just did not blend in at all.

All the close ups on the stars (Dennis Quaid...the meteorologist) boy were annoying to me. The story about flunking calculus was not well done. The story about the kid who was the president of the electronics, chess, and computer? club didn't seem to fit. The wolves were poorly done and hysterically unbelievable. The movie was drawn out....something we see a lot since the success of the titanically long Titanic movie.

It seemed disjointed at times. But the tornadoes, tidal waves, NASA space station, and ship floating through Manhattan were all pretty cool.
