This week’s journal entry is more of an observation. I cut my hand at work the other night; I believe that it was the 16th. I had to have five stitches. It was the first time I’ve hurt myself to were I had to go to the emergency room and get stitches for an injury besides a hernia surgery I had when I was younger.
It was pretty strange to see everyone’s reactions. A few people wanted to see the cut and how bad it was, to others it was like kryptonite is to superman. A few gagged when seeing my blood covered hands and shirt, others looked away as quickly as they possibly could in disgust. Others were more concerned about how I was doing and wanted to help.
I just thought it was really interesting how each individual reacted differently, and it made me wonder why.
I don’t think it’s possible that it’s taught, or learned, maybe by past experience, but for the most part I believe that it’s something that is with you at birth.
