josh heupel cut

by the dolphins. can you say "flash in the pan?"

just one of those college athletes that dominate NCAA competition but cannot withstand the professional ranks...happens all the time

remember Gino Toretta from Miami U who won the heisman?

Same thing...

Mostly this happens to basketball players...when they join the NBA...

It just goes to show you that the PROS are over saturated with talent these days.....except baseball....baseball is weaker with all the expansion teams etc..

Kakky's List of All time flashes in the pan:

David Klingler
Kijana Carter
Andy Katzemoyer
Josh Heipel
Orlando Pace
Big Daddy Wilkinson
Everybody who comes out of Penn State(see: Kijana Carter)

thats funny, I can't believe they would cut such a high draft pick.

Why would they give up on him?? It takes rookies 2 or 3 years to be productive.

Even though I hate Heupel, I have a feeling some other team will cash in by picking him up and lettting him develop.

I always thought he was somewhat of an awkward QB, didnt impress me at all, he had a weak throwing arm and was not a true qb to me.......but yes some team will pick him up for the league minimum.

Dont look for him to amoutn to anythng..look at David Klingler..seriously...

sometimes the talent just isnt there....This is a prime example as to why college athletes should get there degree regarldless of their pre-professional hype..what the fuck does heupel have to fall back on if football doesnt pan out??

I hate athletes who leave NCAA early..seriously

I disagree with the Pace Man. I think he is gonna be the ish at tackle.
You forgot Rashan Salaam, Micheal Westbrook and Ryan Leaf.

didnt salaam go to Penn State? i mentioned every athlete from penn state sucks LOL

I dont know what you all are smoking but Pace is a perennial All-Star and one of the best in the league. Flash in the pan nothin.

What about that guy that was on the front of SI about 10years ago pushing 2 carts full of food. He was the first pich of Green Bay.

325lbs 6ft 6. Mach something?

Pete Mandrich

Was supposed to revolutionize the position. Stopped juicing in the bigs, lost his strength and went to shit.

Orlando Pace is a great tackle and probably future hall of famer.

Recent QBs that did good in college but didn't pan out:

Danny Woefel
Ryan Leaf
Heath Schuler
Andre Ware
David Klinger
Gino
Todd Marinovich
Rick Mirer
Cade McNown
Tony Banks

I am surprised that the Dolphins gave up on Heupel so soon though. He must have stunk in camp.

no guys its tony mandrich, he was a steroid head, and what are you talking about, michael westbrook is like an all pro receiver, he beat the shit out of stephen davis also!!!!!!

I couldn't believe that! Davis is much bigger, why did he let that happen? How can he ever live that down in the locker room?

Wait a minute, he was never even in the pan! Not even one NFL down and he's been cut. That might be some kind of record for a finalist in the Heisman balloting

i don't agree with this hueple slander. he did good in college and if given the chance he could be good in the nfl. he did lead his team over fsu, which i hate fsu and their state pen of a team.

future flash in the pan: micheal vick and chris weinke.

I'm a Buckeye alum and Katzenmoyer didn't embarrass anyone at OSU! He's not stupid and those "questionable" classes he took that one summer are electives that any and all students can take if they choose.
