Jose Canseco

This may be old news, but did anyone see his interview last night??

In the interview he is coming out with a tell all book and states that 85% of baseball players use, and abuse steroids....He was asked several times if Maguire, Bonds...etc. juiced. He eluded the question by telling the interviewer to buy the book, it would be clear.....he even went on to say that the owners of the teams do not want him back because he is spilling his guts....

What I got out of the interview was...." If I can't play baseball anymore, I'm telling on everybody..."

Should be interesting to say the least.....

Jose should have told more about the "secrets" in mlb during that interview. I have a feeling that book is goin to bomb. Sounds like Jose is bitter about baseball cause he isnt good enough to play anymore.

Hell it might actually bring people out to the parks. Everyone loves a freak show. But there is NO WAY IN HELL THAT RANDY JOHNSON HAS DONE GEAR!!! LOL!!!

I agree, it sounds like he is bitter and has come up with a sort of " they're out to get me " plan to help promote his book......

The sad thing is, American people love drama, so the book will probally sale very well, the question the interviewer kept asking was, if Maguire and Bonds juiced, does this null the new records they recently broke....Remeber the German womens swim team from the 40's Olympics?

Of course M. Maguire has already stated years ago he used Andro, once that was out, sales went through the roof...do you think the same thing will happen on a high school or college level because of what he has stated in reguards to steroid abuse...??

The really dangerous part of all this is for your regular guy who knows how to handle gear. Given the possible surge in popularity of gear from this exposure you are bound to have some idiots kill themeselves in the process which may lead to whole new round of enforcment efforts by the DEA and the like.

2 things are gonna happen as a result of his book:

1) People will dismiss him as being mentally fucked up and not much will happen (remember the rocket fuel in his gas tank?). They will think he has no credibility.

2) He will not be dismissed, and there will be a hit on him.

Either way, is it me or is his "tourette's syndrome" getting worse and worse?

Hahahahahahahahaha.....NO SHIT!!! After watching that interview, I went around blinking and had facial twitches for an hour....

Heh heh heh

mac never denied doing steroids in the early part of his career... ya know, when he was normal sized.... but that andro sure did give him some growth at the end...

Jose was never the most liked guy in the clubhouse and i'm sure he is jealous of todays stars.... imagine if a football player did this... the book would be about 650 pages long of names... hell, there would be a kicker on theere too

Canseco is a piece of shit, plus his book is just more propaganda to put fear in the unintelligent population's mind. It may bomb in sales, but enough have heard the press cover it and make the unfounded statements that steroids killed his career, that it has already made an impact. It simply reinforces the mindset that was already fueled by Alzado's death (which was definately not steroid related).

He claims that steroids made him "too big" to play baseball. Last time I checked Ben Johnson, who was the fastest man before Michael Johnson, used steroids and could outrun any baseball player in history. Maybe it was all the cheeseburgers and lack of exercise that made Jose "too big".

I agree, and don't think for a minute that Alzado's death was brought into the interview....wasn't covered much simply because neither one knew shit...mostly they kept talking out their asses because their mouth knew better...

Still should prove very interesting......Mickey Mantle drank himself to death(Liver).....Outlaw that shit as well....

THIS STEROID STUFF IS BECOMING AN EPIDEMIC ISNT IT!!!

WHAT IS THIS STUFF AND HOW DOES IT WORK. MOST IMPORTANTLY, HOW CAN I GET SOME!!!

KAYNE

well maybe we'll find in his book that Babe Ruth was the first to juice with some test suspension and 2-3 hookers every night.....

What does hitting a baseball have to do with the ability to run? It involves precision hand/eye coordination. When a baseball players gets too bulky and loses flexibility, their hand/eye coordination changes.

Exactly..explain why Hank Aaron at 6'1 180 hit 755 home runs or somebody like Ernie Banks hit so many...great wrist speed and hand/eye coordination-in baseball big is not always better

If Canseco comes out and says Lenny Dykstra juiced then it won't be much of a shocker!!!!!!!;)

I don't know if anyone heard of him, but Ken Caminiti came out today and admitted to using steroids.

First, I can't find the article again, but I thought I remember Canseco complaining that as he gained weight he lost speed, but I may be wrong.

Second, use of steroids has nothing to do with UNCONTROLLED weight gain. How many on this board have done cycles and gained maybe 5-10lbs, even with intense training and diet? This article is like so many others that presents the illusion that steroids are like magic growth enhancers, where you don't control the outcome. They present it like, you take Winstrol and you wake up the next day 30lbs bigger and cumbersome. If he really had a problem with steroids causing him to gain excessive weight, then guess what?, you stop using them.

Lastly, I do not believe that muscle mass decreases any of the above mentioned properties, ie flexibility, precision, etc. These are sports specific properties that are learned from practice. Flexibility is not related to muscle mass, but tendon and ligament elasticity. Hell, I remember seeing videos of Charles Glass doing flips and splits on stage. There are a number of martial artists with a physique that would allow them to compete.

Canseco is only complaining now that he is a nobody. I don't remember him complaining when he was at the top of his career, which is when he says he was juicing.

Maybe when that baseball popped his ass in the head, then went over the wall for a homerun jarred something loose in his brain bucket....
