I say no. Not sure he did anything horribly wrong.
He didn't fight against the US in a declared war. Is there any evidence he fought against the US at all?
He didn't have anything to do with the prison uprising where the CIA agent was killed: he was hiding in a basement.
He has provided highly valuable intelligence, which generally reduces a criminal sentence.
He has effectively renounced his US citizenship. As such, he is not a traitor. He should be treated like the other prisoners of war will be...in accordance with the Geneva Convention, and ultimately, probably released.
