Joe Torre Is Gone...

They fired him. The offered him a paycut that would have made him look like a little girl, so he had to reject it.
 
I just talked to Pops about this. Here's my take:

First off, that dude should be given sainthood for putting up with George's shit (no matter how much $$$ he made) for over a decade and not even ONCE stumbling and saying shit back to him. He was a media God in the toughest media market on earth.

He had to put up with such bullshit, like dealing with "Torre's gonna get fired if we don't win" comments all the time. I don't blame him for walking AT ALL. FOr several reasons:

- as it was mentioned, it was a pay cut
- it's a general "fuck you" to the The Boss for all the shit he had to eat
- wtf is in it for him to manage the Yanks for a year?? They are not a playoff team and may be headed for a very rough years (no Arod, maybe no Mo or Posada). There's NOTHING in it for him

Agreed. Steinbrenner is a fucknut, the only good thing about him is he's got deep pockets. It'll be interesting to see if Torre takes over another team or retires.
 
I also wish Cashman would stop fucking telling the media over and over that "we will not participate in Arod's free agency if he does not stay with us". Is strongarming the best player in the league the right approach??

I like Cashman. He was the only one who wanted Torre back. He was on Joe's side.
I like Arod but I think he is gone now that Joe is out. Great regualr season player but he sucks large cock in the playoff's. I think he is 5 for 60 or somthing close to that in the playoffs.

Even more interesting would be Torre coaching the Mets and taking Arod and Rivera with him!

I love cashman, he's the sole reason we still have players like Wang, Cano, Duncan, Melky, Joba, Hughes, Kennedy.

Torre shouldn't have even replied to the offer. Fuck that. Just go to Belize with the wife and let them wait like they made you wait for that fucking offer. Let the media chase you down to the beach while you're getting head and ask you.

"Well, I'm on vacation now, I'll let you know when I get back.... in TWO MONTHS!"

Then you tell them, ummmm NO.
