Jellybeans. Good for refeeds?

Last week I had a refeed and following some of the advice I read on some different threads I basically ate 50% over my maintanance and ate a lot of high GI carbs. I'm not sure if one of the more "major" foods that I ate are actually considered "good for refeeds". I watched a movie and so I thought "hey, perfect, I can have some candy". So I brought with me some jellybeans. I figured, lots of sugar = high GI, and it has 0 fat. I basically ate half the bag which is about a cup. 600 cals worth.

I'm considering doing this again this week because its a pretty convenient food to carry around while running errands. I can keep feeding myself these, and well, I like them. Also it looks less stupid to eat jelly beans than to carry around some white bread everywhere I go :)

Obviously I'm not gonna do it if its bad for me, or if I'm over doing it.

What are people's opinions on this?

I'd opt for candy corns, sedish fish or sour patch kids but if you like jelly beans then i would roll w/ them.

I think candy is fine on refeeds, if thats what you like and its convient. Most times, dextrose is the main sugar in those candies, so you are actually taking in the best source of carbs for refeeding.

Fructose is still a high GI carb. Is this any good as far as refeeds though? I know its not as good as dextrose, but, I'm just keeping my candy options open :D

Fructose likes to refill liver glycogen before muscle glycogen so it's not the greatest for refeeds, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy some. Try to get the majority of your sugary carbs in the form of dextrose instead of fructose.

What's liver glycogen? I've heard it mentioned around here, but I don't know what it does.

Second, I'm reading the ingredients on these jellybeans and the two sugars I see listed are "sugar" and "corn syrup". I assume "sugar" is regular old table sugar, but, what is that in terms of chemicals? And corn syrup.. isn't that just fructose?

I guess I'll go get some sweet tarts

most jelly beans i have seen, have dextrose in them and contain no or little fructose. I know candy corns are basically bits of dextrose molded together w/ a few other ingrediants.

In referance to liver glycogen. Our bodies store glycogen in the muscle and in the liver (also store in fat cells). Liver glycogen is just that, glycogen stored within the liver.

You want the majority stored in the muscle, because thats what gives you the full look and will allow muscles to perform maximum effort during training.

Fructose is a low GI/GR sugar at around 25. Fructose is absorbed through a different celliuar pathway than glucose polymers (dextrose and maltodextrin). It does not cause blood sugar levels to rise or cause insulin to spike.
