J.J. Redick charged with DWI

Hate to see someone get one of these. But it is funny due to his preachy, squeaky clean image.

Durham, NC (Sports Network) - J.J. Redick was arrested early Tuesday morning and charged with driving while impaired.

According to a Durham police report, Redick's 2005 Toyota SUV caught the eye of police after making an illegal u-turn. The officer followed Redick and pulled him over shortly thereafter. He was given a breathalyzer and blew a .11.

In North Carolina, the legal limit for a breathalyzer is 0.07 percent.

In addition to the DWI charge, Redick was also charged with unsafe movement of a vehicle. The NBA hopeful posted his $1,000 bond and was released.

Redick is expected to be a top pick in the upcoming NBA Draft. As a senior at Duke, Redick averaged 26.8 points per game this past season, which was good enough for second in the nation. He graduated from the school in May.

I'm surprised, bad mistake. One of his most marketable qualities is his squeaky clean image. I'll bet his agent is pissed.

I don't knock the guy for having a good time but for poor judgement. Do what most of us can't afford to do: hire a limo everytime you want to go out.

Which is what will make this an even bigger feeding frenzy for the media. I am curious to see how the local media handles it (with him being from Roanoke).

Luckily, I think his younger brother graduated this year - so he will not have to get any runoff from fans.
