It's ture! Run and hide!

More bullshit from the gov.org

How much more privacy are we going to give up for this blind security?

BTW: Some of us do have things to hide from the idiots in Washington. Would you like them to see your email transaction with your source?

Case closed....

Shiiiiiyat my brotha, they have LOTS more to hide than we do, those prick bastard fuckface pices of monkey shit. When they come clean, THEN I won't bitch at them checking me out. They should lead by example.

Magic lantern is something installed on machines of people whom the FBI gets warrants to monitor.

It is not something bundled in Windows or inserted into open source OS's or inside macOS.

The only reason to worry is if the FBI has a warrant on you and/or searched your premises.

.

You actually expect me to believe that.

Do a search on RICO laws and tell me if those are used by gov.org for their intended purpose.

They need to either e-mail you the executable file, trusting you'll install and configure it properly. Or they need physical access to your machine (maybe a user account on it with admin rights).

Do I expect you to believe it? No.
The power behind this press release is the hype factor. If you think the FBI has the time/manpower or desire to go through the thousands of suspected criminals on the off-chance they're NOT encrypting their illicit activity, then you need to lay off the crack :)

Seriously, I don't expect you to take my word for it. But they released this to cause hype, panic and unreasonable amounts of concern.

Interesting stuff...

How is this different from Carnivore and Echelon?

Carnivore and echelon sniff packets and decodes (not decrypts) the packets into cleartext.

It sifts through these packets, comparing them to some predetermined keywords. Then stores the packets relating to the keywords.

Both are bulky and not effective since they don't have the storage, manpower or time to look at all the packets captured.

It's good when they narrow down the matrix to things like username, IP (or MAC) address. Since the packets are essentially public domain, it's not a violation of anyone's rights.
