it's pretty good...just doesn't factor in population control and the fact that there's nothing wrong in cherishing part of the culture from where you're from, as long as you really absorb and appreciate where you are.

Well I was born and raised here in the US (CT) until like 6 then taken to CR then at 14 back here for a year and then back to CR, have vacationed back in forth and have been in many states here and even though most of my education and upbringing was in CR, AMERICA is my country, it is the country I love, I defend and chose to be in, had been wanting to come back for years but didnt have the balls or the means to do so until now.... and now that I'm here I do not look back, I do not miss my country because I AM in my country, I do not have a single CR flag or decoration, I do have a US flag though.... I dont deny or regret living in CR but I love the US.....

Tell a person with latin upbringing that you are an American and a whole dicussion will pop out about them being american too.... touchy people jeez.... only Americans understand the American concept....

Because America is a continent not a country therefore EVERYONE living in the American continent is an American (colombian, mexican, brazilian, cuban, haitian, etc) and they get real offended and think that people in the US are stupid and think america is just Mexico Canada and the US (in all fairness some dumb asses do ) it's a technicality, to me being an american is not something literal it's an ideology/identity per se....

I think when someone says American its meaning is only people from the united states. Sorry but thats the way the word has come to mean at this time. Same concept as the word african-american meaning black people in the united states, not africans that moved to america.

Lucky for me i wont ever have that problem when i go to any other country in the Americas. We Texans always say they are from texas and not america.
