IT people, what does this job entail?

OK My bro is getting interviewed for UPS in the IT department. They told him it's a security position, described it as internet, firewalls, etc.. I have no idea what that means and apparently he does'nt either because he asked me "What's a firewall?" He has no experience in that but has worked in telecom field before. They told him if he did telecom, then this should be easy for him after a little instruction.

So what is the job description for something like that or Is that too general of a question?

and can someone "off the street" handle that kind of work without a computer background?

wtf? if the dude doesn't know what a firewall is and UPS is about to hire him in IT, I am never using them again.

no glory in security work. if someone fucks up the firewall @ our work its always real bad.
plus they implement the "Access Denied" shit for site like EF

Well, he was at Job Fair and submitted his resume. I'm thinking the more resumes the guys got at the job fair, the better off they were, so they got anyone's they could get. "Sure you can do it..." and it's done. I was just asking here what the job called for and if he could be "taught" without direct formal schooling.
