sexism for example. is it good or bad.
being a woman has many drawbacks
1. you don't make as much money
2. you are an object (but pretty much everyone is viewed this way, so i don't see how this applies solely to women, their objectification is just sexual in nature)
3. doctors don't take your complaints as seriously, so you stand a greater chance of dying under our health care system.
but it has benefits too
1. you can commit domestic violence or stalking & not get prosecuted in a court of law
2. you can mouth off to people w/o fear of reprisal
3. you are less likely to commit suicide, get in a fatal car wreck, get heart disease, etc. etc.
so which is it. assuming that sexism on one level or another causes women to be less likely to commit suicide or get in car wrecks, but also has negative drawbacks is it worth it.
