Is this dog overpriced?

I just got to meet a puppy last night that is a cross between a 160lb Male Dogue de Bordeux (French Mastiff) and a 55lb Female Olde English Buldogge. The pup has really thick bones, huge ribs and shoulders, giant feet, and already has a deep bark. The owners guess, is this guy will be about 22" high, 100-110lbs, and really wide. It looks like a black masked Bordeux, with a "slightly" shorter muzzle. The dog plain ole kicks ass!

The guy selling him wants $750, this seems a bit high for a mix breed. Both breeds are pretty spendy as purebreds( bulldogges $800-1400 and bordeux's $1200-2000), what do you think of this pricing?

I wouldn't pay more then $100 for any mixed breed. You can usually get really nice mixed for $50...

Sounds too much.... I figure pedigrees cost so much, because you can breed them if it is a good line. But you can't really breed a mixed dog. Sound like a nice sounding pup though.

I can't wait to get another dog.

Thanks for the replies all. I think I may try and talk the guy down, too bad I'm 25lbs lighter and a little less intimidating HEHE. I guess if this guy stays firm, it just wasn't meant to be.

I wouldn't pay more then $100 for any mixed breed. You can usually get really nice mixed for $50...

GO to a animal shelter and get one there

Thats WAY too high for a mixed breed.

I got my mastiff for 1200, certified with all puppy shots. That included shipping from the East Coast (to the West Coast).

That guy is "breeding" mutts! It was either an accidental breeding or the guy thinks he knows what he is doing and ruining the bloodlines of both dogs. He should take the litter to the pound and have them gassed! What a fucking asshole!
