Is regular ALA counter-productive?

junk

New member
Macro said that Regular ALA alone with increase insulin production while r-ALA will actually descrease insulin production and increase insulin sensitivity.

From what I understand from his words: ALA is actuall quite BAD for dieting ! I mean, if I take it with a meal containing FAT I will actually mobilize more fat into adipose tissues ?

So is regulat ALA junk for dieting and just r-ALA great ?
There's a lot of difference between Lowering insulin production to Increasing it.

bumps from different users.. Lots of guys would like to know the REAL answer to this.

There's a lot of difference between Lowering insulin production to Increasing it.

1. Plasma insulin will be increased slightly due to the s-ala in the RACEMIC ALA.(50/50 combo of -r and -s)

2. However, glucose uptake into the muscle cells and oxidation will also be increased independenetly of the increase in insulin.

The thing nobody really knows is: If the benefits of #2 out-weighs the disadvantages of #1.

So far, it seems that the small increase in plasma insulin is not very significant in MOST people. But, due to genetic variances some people can get a higher increase in plasma insulin.

End result.......ALA is beneficial.(For most)

This problem however does not manifest itself at all in R-ala. Due to the fact that there is no s-ala(Which causes the increased plasma insulin seen in the racemic).
