Is it me, or does the NBA look less appealing now..

All the talk this summer is the stupid high schoolers who got drafted..who wont even play that much if at all..I'm kinda pissed at Dave Stern and teh boys, they fuckin up a great league.

By the way, Mitch Richmond to the Lakers...(*cough, cough* Glen RIce)...they KNOW that wont workout for them..damn.

at least my Celtics will IMPROVE..hopefully they'll make the playoffs..I saw some footage of summer league play, and if they could just get a center and point guard they'd be nasty.

Paul Pierce, Antoine Walker, and Joseph Forte are gonna be fun to watch.

And dont laugh, but the clippers will too..Keyon Dooling, Quentin Richardson, Lamar Odom, Darius MIles, and Elton Brand? Thats better ball than Rucker Park. It'll be interesting.

Oh and I'm gonna crack up at Patrick Ewing in a Magic Uniform..but they might be the nastiest team in the east this year with Grant Hill 100%, T-Mac, and Mike Miller..who knows.

I'm just ranting, cuz basketball is my favorite sport and all I have really to look forward to is watching Jason Williams and Mike Dunleavy and Carlos Boozer tear it up this year in the NCAA

Let me elaborate, from the last sports post I cranked on I said, "Spectating sports is for losers that have nothing to do." I don't understand how you could care how many times someone can hit a ball over a fence in a year, or how many baskets he can make. Does it have any relefction on anything you've worked for? Doubt it.
You're not part of the team when they win or lose, either way you're still a loser that watched a three hour game on your ass. "We won, we won!!!" No, you didn't, turd, you sat on your ass, drank beer, and hollered like a cheerleader.
I'm done.

Crazy1, you one of the people on here that I think is cool, and i'm down with you and all so this aint no flame..

I know it sounds lame, but 99% of the population who worked they asses off in high school and college in sports never make it to the pros..so in a "lame" way, we all live our fantasies and dreams of playing the sport professionally through our heroes...

I mean, simply put, we WISH we could be Michael Jordan and WISH we could be Barry Bonds or Ken Griffey Jr...

It gives people the sense of belonging, rootin for the same team, the hometown team or whatever...We are a part of this dream/fantasy cuz we root and buy the apparel and memoriabilia..

make sense??

Sorry sweet stuff! REALLY SORRY!

I'll e-mail you next week, ok? I just got back from a two week sailing trip...swamped on this end. I am going to be spending a few days with my lil girl and man..I missed them!

Chin up doll, things always have a way of working themselves out. She broke your heart...I am soooo sorry for that!

New life ahead of you...grap it with gusto!

LOL I hear ya babe..thanks though :) Email me next week with your new addy, we'll talk..I'm going up to Oxford here in a few weeks when school gets back in so I can party and visit one last time with my former college and my lil sis who'll be a senior there (miami university baby)

:)

No problem man..See, I see where you coming from and rather than call you a faggot or whatever cuz you dont like sports, I wanted to explain it to you..cuz yeah, sometimes I take a step back and think, why do I CARE SO MUCH??

but simply put again, we're all lil kids in the backyard playing , pretending we're one of our heroes...but as adults, some of use cant "play" all the time, so we sit behind a TV with a brew (I like jack and coke personally ehehh) and root and read the paper everyday and watch SportsCenter.

To be honest, it hasnt been the same since 92..i miss Bird, Magic, and stuff..but I REALLY miss these guys in their prime: Hakeem, Pat Ewing, Dave Robinson, Clye Drexler, Chris Mullin, Tim Hardaway, and Barkley.

Those players in they prime was fun to watch--the whole LEAGUE was fun to watch

the NBA does suck now.

i much prefer "true" (college) basketball.

kak, i didn't know you too were a suffering celtics fan. at least we can take heart in this year's draft.... now if only we could get a big man....

We'll never have a more dominating frontline as in mchale bird and parish...

In the immortal words of Ed Mcmahon, "YES! YOU ARE CORRECT, SIR!"

Sorry kak, but I personally can't stand pro athletes, sports, whatever. just a bunch of overpaid, under-intelligent sissies

Oh I agree with you..athletes these days believe it is a right for them to have all this money and attention--not a privelidge. Its sad really. I mean it all went downhill in the 90's...at least we can say one thing good about the 80's--the pro sports were way more interesting and less about celebrity and money

The NBA has been washed up a long time. The expansion that the 1990s brought has realy been detrimental to the league.

Yes, it was great to watch MJ, but was it really exciting to know he would average 40ppg and win the title? The league had its true superstar, but it had little drama.

The NFL, on the other hand, never lacks for drama.

Without MJ, there isn't much to the league. There is no definitve #1 player. Some would say Iverson, or Kobe, or KG or Shaq, but there is no one who approaches what Jordan brought to the court.

Jordan was truly gifted as an athlete, but had a mastery of fundamentals none of today's all-stars come close to. Kobe is the closest and he has a long way to go.

(Iverson is a gunner who shoots 11-30 for three nights and then 17-30 on the fourth. Big deal. Duke's Jasopn Williams is already more fundamentally sound than Iverson)

There are a lot of players in the league who don't belong at that level. Mike Miller was Rookie of the Year? He wouldn't have been player of the year if he stayed in college! Remember when Anfernee Hardaway was supposed to be the next great thing?

There are too many teams (and therefore too many players) and too many games.

From where I sit, the player with the ability to rise above the current crowd is Tracy McGrady. He is more athletic than Vince Carter, a terrific scorer (he got his points when everyone knew he was taking the shots), and still only 21.

Matt, did you see my post about Randy Johnson? no flame to ya :)

Anyways, I agree with you except on who's gonna be the "next great thing" in the NBA..its not T-Mac---its not going to be anybody. THe talent is so diluted that everybody can go one on one and score these days.

You dont have any defenders anymore. GP was the greatest one on one on defense but he's lost a step due to age.

I gaurantee that you'll see some NBA teams fold here in the next few years...I mean jesus, bring the league back to less teams with more rich, deep talent.

Although its fun watching teams like the Bucks, 76ers, and a couple of others, actually play AS A TEAM on offense and defense instead of standing around and watching 1-2 players do they thing.

I'll check for the RJ post. Was it recent?
