and what have you done to prepare for it? I am so behind right now. I usually have all my shopping done by now and I have barely started. I don't even have my tree up which I should of done this past weekend and I should of started sending out Christmas cards by now. I am just not feeling it this year and it is usually my favorite time of the year!

I dont understand this phenomena of "necessary shopping". For us Christmas was about good deeds and humanity, no wrapping paper required. Just be nice to me for 365 out of the year, dont buy me a thing. Of course, it's waaaaaaaaay easier to buy a fruit basket than to be kind to one another.

I hope to begin baking soon. I love to give my cookies as gifts.

The new one they built is no where near me and to get there is a act of congress with the way the roads are....Trinity you'll see what I mean if you go anytime, and to top it off the parking sucks!! Well, I had a catalog mailed to him and it came in already and he marked SEVERAL items he really wanted, even the skateboard, so I don't have to do the cheesy gift certificate. It was a big help and much appreciated!!!!!

Try living in a country where everyone is Buddhist and then watch how transparent Xmas becomes when all the companies shamelessly use a Christian celebration to promote their goods. It's laughable.

Actually I raised my kids this way so no, it hasn't been lost.

My sister and I have both raised our families this way. We NEVER stress over shopping for lots of junk. We get our kids ONE GIFT that they will love and then we REALLY shop for things from DEC 26 on when the stores will be giving all of their merchandise away.

Both my sister and I only had troubles with our in-laws (my ex-in laws).

My mother raised us this way and it suits us just fine.

Christmas can't be bought or sold. It is an attitude; a feeling.

If one wants to be a slave to what the stores tell us we are supposed to be doing, then that is a conscious decision made on the part of that individual.

My best memories where when we had all the family together spending time with each other....We were pretty poor when i was growing up so I never had the luxury some kids had. My son has always been good about it also. He has been though me being single and struggling..he is always happy with what I get him that is why I try my best to make it special.
