Is Customs required to inform you if they've opened your package?

They can open ANYTHING... but they rarely have time and usually will only grab packages if the return address is on the "WATCH" list. Companies get on the watch list by repeatedly advertsing openly that they ship unapproved medications or by Bill Phillips doing articles about them. Smart companies do not put return addresses on packages that will get them picked up off of watch lists. They rotate their return drop boxes. Once customs has opened a package they do not need to notify you that it has been searched; however, they do need to send you a letter within three weeks if it is siezed. If you order steroids and customs finds your package they will just sieze it and send you a letter.

i cant help

but say fuck customs.i mean,in a way of course props to em for keepin terrorism and bombs and what not...or at least some of them...but all the good shit should be let thru...like our juice or any other goodies....

When customs opens a package they are supposed to notify you your packaged was opened by placing a green tape label on the package. The tape usually states the officer's name who opened "suspicious" poackage, and they have a place to state the contents then they tape the package closed and send it through. Or they seize package and send you a letter. I have had more than one package delivered with Green Tape in the past few weeks. They did not see anything dangerous in the packaging , so they sent it through with a "green tape notice" package had been opened.

If they put tape on it don't that sound like there tracking your shipments, sounds like a good trap.

Negative, tape does not mean your pack is being tracked. The tape is a sticker which tells the person recvg said pack, your privacy has been violated in the name of National Security. It tells you it has been opened and checked for dangerous and illegal goods. Depending on the packing method, you may or may not get your package once it has been opened. If they find things laying loose they will confiscate and send you a letter. If the contents are hidden and wrapped and they can not see any evidence of dangerous goods it will probably make it with green tape.
