Bastardize (in the US) or bastardise (as most people in Britain and Australia would spell it) is a word - it's a verb, meaning literally to declare someone illegitimate or, more usually, to spoil something or to copy something poorly. So it's not really the word you're probably looking for to replace bastard (but will that matter?).
