Irradiated gear?

O.k. here is my question. Now that the usps is irradiating alot of the packages could this affect the gear that comes through the mail? Will it not be as powerful? Sorry for the bonehead questions, but I am kind of curious. Thanks in advance.

Although radiating anthrax spores has not been proven to work (I know--I work on the anthrax toxin), the energy passed through your (and my) gear is very powerful and can severely affect it. The radiation is powerful enough to break covalent bonds and pop electrons out of their orbitals and cause all sort of molecular rearrangements. Especially, since there are so many aromatic rings in gear--there are lots of possible rearrangements! Remember -- the way radiation kills living things is by rearranging DNA, which is just a bunch of aromatic molecules and some sugar. If it can do it to DNA, it can do it to your gear. I have no idea how often this occurs at the molecular level for gear, but it's probably not very common cause the gear is diluted in water or oil, so I wouldn't worry too much.

how can they do this, what are they doing for legit stuf that can mess peoples stuff up (i.e. online pharmacys that people get there medication off of)

They are only radiating packages that are sent to military & governement...etc

If your gear is bing sent domestically, than you probably don't have anything to worry about. The only mail that is being irradiated that I know of is mail that is being sent to major government and military divisions all over the metropolitan area. Certain mail headed to the suburbs (I-270 technology corridor), is also being irradiated. However, if they were to irradiate all mail than everyone who was recieving legit prescriptions, prohormones, etc would be at major risk. They wont do this for that very reason. You have nothing to worry about.

I don't think so. From what I understand is that their are a couple of these in use right now and many more getting ready to start using them. Their was a big thing on TV about people getting sick from them, and the affects that they are having on legit drugs. Like their affectiveness, and experation date, and some other thigs.
