What do you prefer DSL or Cable for your high speed internet connection?

I've had both, dsl is cheaper in my area, cable seemed to be a little faster. I have dsl now.

dont see why anyone would prefer dsl over cable since cable is faster
that being said i have dsl since its hella lot cheaper

Because cable speed depends on the # of users (more users = slower)
While with DSL the speed is constant

Cable. hands down

Cable is still fast with a lot of users - I wouldnt buy into the DSL propaganda machine.

We've had cable at my house in CA since 96 - its been excellent.

i can still manage to rub one out to a still photo so whatever works

DSL is faster depending on how far you are away from the source. At my last palce I was less than 1 mile from the source so it was very fast. I have cable now and it seems OK, maybe not too many other users here btu I'll probably switch to DSL once the introductory $19.99 per month price goes back up to $56

I have cable, we;'ve had it for the last 4 years or so and its been really nice. I think DSL is like $32 a month around here, while cable is $50. But my parents are paying, so meh... I dont care. :)

plus you gotta love the 500 k/byte (yes byte i said) download rates regularly. Comcast never gets saturated it seems. its pure bliss.

Cable now, but I'd go with whatever is cheaper.

Based on the above explanations then I think DSL is more consistent and preferrable.

even at peak capacity cable operates just as fast if not faster than DSL

I've never had to complain about my DSL line but I've a couple of friends who can DL much faster w/ cable

never gets saturated my ass....lol....I guess it's prolly cuz where I live, a very densely populated area of apts, frathouses, etc....everyone and their mom has comcast modems, most places have 3-6 users running off one modem. it's very frustrating, especially for a gamer

If I had cable TV I'd get cable, but since I have satellite, I have DSL. You need a basic cable setup to get cable access.

Over here they charge $90/month for a package of Cable access/unlimited phone use to anywhere/cable TV. Can't beat that.
