Insulin?

Ive heard that injecting insulin intramuscularly can increase absorbtion and release rates. Does anyone do this instead of into adipose tissue and if so what were the results?
thanks

Absorption and release rates of what? If you mean insulin, there doesn't seem to be much advantage doing it IM rathen than SC, as long as it gets into your bloodstream.

well someone locally mentioned that injecting into muscle will increaxae absorbtion rate and almost ahlves the time slin takes to peak. Was wondering if this theory was supported by anyone here. Hypothetically this does makes some sense since there is much more blood flow to muscle then sub(fat) .

been wondering about this too.

I've tried Humulin R IM and had mixed results. One time, it seemed to take longer to peak (about 4-5 hours), the other time, it seemed that it got into my bloodstream right away.

I read on an insulin site that release rate is slower IM, but I suspect that it may have to do with how vascular is the area immediately surrounding the injection site.

Also, what happens if you inject into a vein?

You need to be careful shooting some forms of insulin into muscle. There are only a couple of forms of insulin that can be injected into muscle.

"Factors that speed insulin absorption
Variation in absorption can cause changes in blood glucose levels. Insulin absorption is increased by:

* Injecting into an exercised area such as the thigh
* High temperatures, for example, shower, bath, hot water bottle, spa or sauna
* Massaging the area around the injection site
* Injecting into muscle – the deeper the injection into muscle, the faster the insulin will be absorbed."
