the longer the insulin is active is generally a corelation to its danger for most people. if you understand what your doing and prepare correctly the main danger is the suprise spike of slin activity when you think the drug has run its course. in the article linked above by MGoBlue4You the diabetics who switched to the faster acting insulins felt more in control and they didnt have the suprise insulin spikes
if you take a fast acting insulin you better take the carbs right then and not later
go to http://www.basskilleronline.com/insulin.shtml and read acnemans insulin faq and pay close attention to the safety section and get back with us if you decide to use

i disagree with increasing until hypo symptoms occurbig_boy_1 said:It is at least equally fast acting as humalog, if not faster.
Be careful with insulin, start with some 2 IU and increase by 1 IU each 2 workouts. When you feel slight hypoglycemia symptoms, back off by 2 IU.
One week after you can try to increase 1 or 2 IU as some slight insulin resistance develops with time.
Have plenty powdered glucose handy AT ALL TIMES in case of hypoglycemia.

I recommend never using over 10IU. 10IU is enough to make you grow.
In general Dosages used are usually 1 IU per 20 pounds of lean bodyweight. So a 220lb bodybuilder with 9% body-fat would use 10iu of insulin(aprox200lb lean mass/20 = 10iu). But even experienced insulin users shouldn't use max dosage at the beginning of an insulin cycle. First-time users should start at a low dosage and gradually work up. For example, first begin with 2 IU and then increase the dosage by 1 IU every consecutive workout until you reach your calculated dose or determine a maximum personal dose(some people are more sensitive to insulin sides like hypoglycemia). This will allow the athlete to determine a dosage he can safely use. Insulin dosages can vary significantly among athletes and are dependent upon insulin sensitivity and the use of other drugs. Athletes using growth hormone and thyroid might have higher insulin requirements.
