About 3 weeks ago, I was playing in a jc football game and I completely tore my acl and miniscus. This sucks because I was in the process of setting up 3 visits to schools that were going to offer scholarships as well as an additional 15 looking at film but now I'm not being recruited at all. This means I'm going to redshirt next year and won't be back on the field for another full 2 years. My question is once my knee gets fully healed should I take a cycle to get my strength back up to where it was or since I have 2 years, just build it back up naturally?

I assume you are going to have your meniscus and ACL surgically repaired.

After surgery, it will be a good 3-4 months before you will be able to freely work that joint with out a brace.

However, you will be given a brace and can lift with in 3-4 weeks, that leg; you can lift for the rest of your body, as soon as you feel like it. 3-4 days post opt.

A lot of people have had their ACL’s repaired, common injury, and many athletes play very successfully with repaired ACL’s

I know there are Pro Football players playing with NO ACL, just bracing.

I wouldn't chance reinjuring yourself without adding some strength to your ligaments and tendons. Stay clean and get as much naturally as possible before cycling. Especially if there's no signifigant reward as opposed to the risks involved.

I couldn't agree more!!!! do it naturally dude! you're definitely going to add extra stress and strain to the injured areas if you cycle, and it's going to happen faster than your body can handle... slow & steady, get healed, THEN re-evaluate your situation.

Natural of course

FYI Joe Namath signed his first contract while they knew he blew his knee in College.

and look how well he did:)

some good info from these guys... I was in the same situation in the fall of 04' from a football injury in middle of the season. I waited to have the surgery at the end of the season, rehabed up through may, then hit a little prop/var the next summer- only 8 weeks...with an acl and miniscus, you may need to do a year of rehab before thinking about using. Try to get back to were you were when you were injured before you think about going on.
