Injections and asperation

I realize the importance of asperating if you're injecting into your bicep, quads, etc. But do you need to asperate if you're injecting into your butt? Are there blood vessels it can hit back there? Thanks.

I've got a question.

How can you asperate when your shooting 3cc's and theres no room left in the syringe draw back on?

The obvious answer is don't shoot 3cc's at one time, but when your shots are ED or EOD combining them makes more sence.

you can still aspirate when shooting 3 cc's....you don't need to pull back that much to know if you're in a vessel....

for safety, it is wise to aspirate every time you inject. i cant see why anyone wouldnt take an extra 3 seconds of their time when those 3 seconds can at the extremeties save a lifetime.

Personally, I never asperate in my glute. PERSONALLY. Satch is right, you should always do it.

If you plan on doing a 3cc injection, just get the 5cc plunger... that way you have an extra 2cc's manuvering room. :)

Why would you not asperate? It takes 1 second... for god's sake... you lazy bastard....:D

Thanks Gilly

I was trying to asperate, but wasn't sure it was
working... I only do the 3cc's in the glute and it's really hard trying to get both hands back there. :D

The next time I order pins I will get some 5cc's.

in a 3cc syringe, there is maybe another half a cc to pull back the plunger, take a look. you dont need a 5 cc syringe. if your in a vein, you see blood come in the syringe instantly, you wont need to pull it back more then an 1/10 of a cc to see it.

Yep, especially BD's, they have another full cc's worth of room. You only need to pull back until you see the first tiny air bubble in the collar of the pin.

make sure that you hold the plunger back for a few seconds, especially with 24+ gauge pins, it is almost imposible to aspirate with smaller pins acurately

About a year ago I was shootin in my glute and I did not aspirate and I hit a vein and started to choke and cough and I thought I was going to die ALWAYS ASPIRATE!.

I aspirate wherever I hit; the only time that I've actually been in a vein was in my glute, so yes, aspirate there as well.

Just don't aspirate too hard as the negative pressure can collapse a vein.
