Injection Infection?

How do you know if your are infected from an IM injection? And how long does it take to occur in the body?

I got an infection in my right quad a couple months ago cause I resused a needle that had been lyin around for a while (I know, stupid move)...I got a pain in my leg only a week or so after I made the injection...It hurt like a bitch, I could barely walk, I couldn't bend my leg and I got a fever at one point it was up to 102 degrees! Finally went to the Doc's 2 weeks later then went straight to the ER for surgery...If you're having any of these symptons go to the doctor FAST it can be fatal if u don't take care of it soon and the pain will only get worse!

It was 48hrs for mine. I got a fever of 99.6 and felt like I had the flu. It was in my quad so I couldn’t bend my leg and could barely walk, it was very painful. I didn't realize it was an infection at first b/c I had no visible signs. I waited about 72hrs before I called my doctor.

If you think it's an infection see a doctor right away.

like the other guys said, you will have redness in the area you injected, it will be warm to touch and swollen, I got an infection in my triceps and it was very easy to tell something was wrong, it balooned up like 3" , it was gross. as long as you go to a doctor and get on some anitbiotics for a week or so, there isnt much to worry about.

I don't think it was an infection, the juice must have stayed in the quad a little longer than usual. I feel fine, no fever and no significant swelling. Just a little lump where the injection happened on Monday. Pain is almost gone as well.

Thanks for the help. Hopefully I will never get one, but now I at least know the signs to look for.
